RoS: totally worthless (in General)

UltimaSpock [Forge Frog Services] November 9 2005 6:03 AM EST

Hi. I am a beginner here since I discovered CB 3 weeks ago.
My team was ETEM, with a RoS on the second E with a GA.

I found out the game extremely difficult for opponents with the same PR than me and I was discouraged

I was eager to leave CB, or rebuild another team based on a ToE and ETTT.

I give it a try by converting my RoS into a ToE, and the change is unbelievable.

Even with the 5% loss due to the conversion my ETEM is able to beat much more opponents.

Trust me, this is really incredible.

For me RoS= piece of Trash

It is true that the RoS is rather "weak". I've tried it for a 4 minion tank and it is still vulnerable to big DM teams. It does not add enough to the ED too. It should be boosted to give it a bit more bite.

I think the problem was using it on GA. If your GA is large enough anyway, boosting it by a RoS won't help much. If you stick a RoS on a Haste or better an AS enchanter, you should see much more use out of it.

The protection from DM is the icing on the cake. Boost your AS *and* make it resistant to DM reduction.

I believed UltimaSpock equipped the RoS on the AS minion. His team has got very little HP so it should be equipped on the AS to increase the HP.

The RoS is a good Tatt - it just takes some work to get the strat right.

The ToE, on the other hand is great right out of the box.

A couple of things - try putting the ToE on your CoC mage. CoC is more effective the longer the mage lives for.

And build up some real HP on your minions - it'll help against the single FB/DM mages.

Otherwise nice work!

I did road test the RoS a couple of weeks ago. What I found was that mine - at 450k lvl - blocked a DM of 300k level completely. Above that point there was a small DM effect. But even a 450k lvl DM against my 450k lvl RoS could not 'fizzle' a base protection - it just reduced it partly. So the RoS is powerful - you could create a fake tank team with it easily. But it should be renamed the Rune Of AS because that's where it is most useful...

using a RoS on an Enchanter with a Guardian Angel is indeed useless, you could have better put it on an Enchanter with Ablative Shield and get the bonus of more life.

thanks for your comments. Right at the beginning (RoS lvl 20 lol) I tried the RoS on AS and did not see much difference.

perhaps you are right with RoS on AS, but currently my ToE is wonderful!

The RoS was awesome on my 4 E tank team. Gave me a 40k boost to my Haste, add in the corn I was using with that and I had just as much Dex on all 4 of my minions as most ToA Tanks had at the same PR. The good part was none of my E spells got fizzled after I started using it. So my VA, GS, Haste and AS were always cast. It allowed me to maintain a score that was 4 times my MPR. So it is not a bad Tattoo at all. It just needs to be used properly.

I STILL think the RoS should REFLECT -->all<-- Offensive enchantments.

My idea would be to have a RoS of level X reflect X/3 levels of all offensive enchantments cast at the team and give the wearer an additional X/3 levels of simple deflective protection. That makes it useful against EC, DM, and AMS and would actually force players to consider whether they should have an offensive enchantment at all (right now THAT decision is a no brainer).

The tactical considerations are juicy. If you use your own offensive enchantments you take a chance that a reflected DM cancels them. This makes the RoS truly a thing that enforces solitude by discouraging all offensive enchantments, whether yours or theirs.

I wish.
