After getting rid of some viruses and spyware today I was trying to find some missing files, with the help of scanning for viruses I noticed that it scanned the missing files I was looking for. Only one slight problem, the files are in the darn system information folder. I can't even see it with the view hidden folders option.

If you're using WIndows XP, in explorer go to Tools > Folder Options > Uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files.'
There may be utilites out there (on the web) to help you retrieve the file since it looks like it's part of a System Restore.
But I could be totally off also, good luck :)

You shouldn't do anything with the files inside of the System Volume Information.
You can get into them with what Xiaz said but still you might not be able to do anything with them because they are protected.
Tip: always back up your files ;)

It is impossible to modify anything in the System Volume Information folder directly. Even after turning on hidden and system folders.

well I now am able to get access into the folder. Only problem now is how to find the file, I looked through the folders in there and still have not found the files i am looking for, but the virus scanner still shows the file.
And now I got even bigger problem, I think my computer has some virus I can't find which is attacking my ability to access the internet.
modem is fine, it always has the internet light, but the computer just won't budge on letting me online.

Try different anti-virus scans, I know there are a few online ones that can scan your PC via browser. If that don't work maybe a nice clean format will help.
Just remember to back/copy all your personal files to a different HDD or storage device. Favourites, add. book, emails etc. But best exhaust all the other option before formatting, because it's a bummer having to reconfigure your PC to the way you like it :)

Have you tried going into safe mode and searching for the file, i think in safe mode it allows you to move stuff around. Also in my computer type in that current data and maybe it will take you to that file.

well through safe mode is how I was able to access the system volume information folder and changed the configuration so I am now able to access it in normal windows mode.
Strangely the anti virus still sees the file but I tried searching for file my self through the restore folder and could not find it.

Which is exactly the point.
System Volume Information has several protective layers. One of them being that the files are hidden. They can be found by the virus scanner and most likely with some other programs also.
