A Fond Farewell To My CB1 Friends (in Public Record)

jayuu December 27 2005 10:01 PM EST

Firstly, I would like to ask Jon and the admins to leave this thread open. It is not meant to discuss the reasons for the closing of CB1 or lament the fact that it is closed. It is simply here for myself and anyone else who wishes to post, an opportunity to say good-bye to our CB1 playing friends.
Secondly, I would also ask that anyone posting here stay on-topic. We don't need any more "this sux" posts. Let's try to keep this thread as a clean, uncluttered remembrance of the fun we had over there.

To my CB1 friends, THANKS! for the good times. I won't list you all since I'm sure to forget someone. I feel I've gotten to know some of you pretty well (considering this is an online game) and it saddens me somewhat to see it end. I'll miss the fun we had in chat. The hugs, pokes, and occasional good carping. The strat discussions (CI forever! hehe) and R/L discussions. I hope to see some of you around and to those that I won't, I wish you all the best wherever life takes you. :)

jay

/me hugs wld, bows to Moto, and carps slayer with a grossly oversized loch on the way out the door.

/me returns jay's hug! You're a true sweetheart, don't totally forget us.. we do have email!

(CB1)G-Money December 27 2005 10:44 PM EST

Bye to all the people who made CB1 worth playing.

The other Jay

Sukotto [lookingglas] December 27 2005 10:45 PM EST

Thank you everyone. I really enjoyed my time in cb1.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 27 2005 10:53 PM EST

What you did in the last days of CB1 was amazing man, I hope you do the same here. What CI did was also of great importance, having a clan with that kinda of commitment is a really cool thing to see, and a really fun thing to compete against and with.

I also want to thank the crew who joined around me and my insane quest to topple CI (at least one or twice a week), DiCi por vida!

Lately I had a lot of fun on CB1, getting to have that 365 AC set was almost as much fun as returning to my original main char again after I sold it. Getting to beat on Ranger, then seeing him tear stuff up with the set afterwards.

I owned a corn once used on The Last while it was the top pr char, I got to almost break 700k with a char I started, I had more junk than I knew what to do with so I started giving it away en mass...So much cool stuff that happened playing a silly time succubus of a game...

I hope I never stop thinking about how I could have beat Kronos with a heavy tank in front of a decay mage wearing a +100 CoBF...

[CB1]cheez-its December 27 2005 11:14 PM EST

first off i need to carp you jay... your the reason i sold that 4 mill pr character just could not beat you. but i spent hours, maybe even days to crack that character. i think if i was able to dedicate the time and the usd i could of caught you... well not before it closed hehe. As far as the goodbyes, i must say goodbye to moto, wld, and slayer. moto for your help devising a strat to combat the powerhouse formally known as kronos. wld for being my online mother and helping me at all times i asked. and slayer well let the carps fly.

Asian Man December 27 2005 11:26 PM EST

peace out jayuu.

in truth, i think everyone that is leaving is overreacting but that is only IMO.

you guys can just stay and play CB2 but i guess it was a big bummer to lose CB1.

you have a happy new year and drive safe.

DO NOT FORGET TO VISIT!!!!

Asian Man December 27 2005 11:28 PM EST

oops, read wrong. thought jayuu was leaving CB2. oh well, it shows how much i care about my CB friends :)

and people who are leaving like BIO are overeeacting IMO.

jayuu, still have a happy new year and still drive safe.

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] December 27 2005 11:56 PM EST

Well, we all had a fun time while it lasted. We'll probably all remember CB1 fondly as the place we first learned about blending carnage. I do hope to see you all around. Maybe if we all spend more time around here now it'll help this place improve its atmosphere from what it is some days.

wldflr December 28 2005 12:12 AM EST

There's so many of you guys that I truly adore. We had great times, hashed over problems, joked about chars, wheeled and dealed, and laughed a lot. CB1 was a great game, but that's not what kept me playing... it was you guys!

[SIBT]Gardiner Amarth December 28 2005 12:32 AM EST

My time on CB1 was also great, due to a lot of the cool people I met, like Sutekh and wldflr...I'll miss it, even if I hadn't logged in lately before it went down.

Phrede December 28 2005 3:45 AM EST

I am trying to be positive - but deep down inside I wanna say many things.

Yes it has been a good year over there - I loved the comeraderie of the clans and loved spending my hard-earned cash on things that can be trashed in an instant.

Thanks to all the good people I met over there including Moto, wld, seft,Jay, Wasp, and many many more.

<pour all my late-night shell-shocked thoughts into one post>

You know, I sit here today realizing a month ago i took a 20 million dollar cb2 debt to get a x26 +180 elb, and a 80x130 +180 els. I knew the risk, but held on dearly to the statement jon made at the beginning of cb2 that he would keep cb1 open as long as there were people playing it. And I had thought about the frustration I would have if he would close it abruptly when people were still actively on it, with all of the time and cb2 I had wasted on it. Then, when I saw the post announcing the death of cb1...

All I could think about was not sitting in new players, knowing that when I entered the channel I'd see all familiar faces and actually strike up a conversation that was personal, something that simply isn't existent (or not nearly as strong at least) in cb2. Look up the lyrics from the theme song from cheers, and you have what cb1 was at the end.

I had a 700 million dollar NW character, 4th in the game. I had built a 1.6 mil PR character in 3 months, starting fresh and wanting to catch up. Deep down, I felt that the end of cb1 would be the end of my playing days here as well, leaving bitter and depressed. But instead, I look forward to keeping in touch with all my fellow cb1 friends, and hope that we don't let the death of cb1 turn into the death of the friendships made there.

I will be in the room "carnage blender 1" pretty much 24/7. I would love for this to become a commonplace for the people that stuck it out until the end with me. Moto, wldflr, slayer, wasp, jayuu, freed, rampage, novice, adrian (poor adrian, he was a few items away from having each piece of equipment there was in the game with a name!), bolfen, kagaku8 (GREAT single mage with DX strat, truly an innovative character), hejin, Bender, Psyche, Linguala, Tempist, the list goes on and on, and I apologize for those who I've left off.

I hope to keep in touch with you all. CB1 was a great game, but NEVER forget that what made it great were the people that played it. I know that's the real reason I went down with the ship. :)

Wld everyone that stated in new players in CB1, knew that you only played CB1 till we got a chance to take all of Sefton cash and go to the Bahamas together. And now that its gone I have to actually go look for a job to pay for the trip ;)

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] December 28 2005 6:59 AM EST

:-/

I had a lot of good times with you guys in the almost 2 years I had played CB1, made a lot of what I consider very good friends. I am gonna miss each and every one of y'all :*(

/me returns jay's carp with his slightly less oversized loch

if any of you old CB1ers would like to keep in touch, CM me for my aim/msn...ect.

Revs December 28 2005 11:20 AM EST

I wanted to thank everyone that made the game so fun. So instead of naming all the names, I just wanted to thank all of the people that listened, provided strat help, got me started, and grew to be friends in the end, and were awesome clan mates. You all know who you are. I wanted to thank the people that gave me a shot in clans and then fought along side. Eruption of Carnage was an experience I won't forget. Thanks for the opportunity there. I'm going to miss the stellar opposition, with opponenets of such high caliber in character and class. I'll miss the fact I never got my elbow out of forging in time to see what I was made of. And I wish i had a chance to chat there, i missed out. But all in all, i think it was a great experience, and i'm hoping to have the same here, with the same people, and a lot of new ones. Jayuu, good closure post, thanks. =]

Bye jayuu,

The best to you with what life will bring you after CB.

(dang my cold hands, just came back from granny's 80th B-day)

Blarg December 28 2005 1:19 PM EST

*hugs all his CB1 friends leaving*
i'll try to keep in touch

[Beo]AggroHippie January 2 2006 9:23 PM EST

well, Im kind of in the dark as to how CB1 ended, but it has done just that. I will miss being able to chat with all the people that gave me the only reason to check back occasionally between my almost full-time job, school, aikido and my so-called social life. If I could get either an Email or IM from some of you (you know who you are) so that I may still keep in touch even if CB2 falls or if you stop playing as what has essentially become the case of my online-ness currently. Life tends to do that, but I dont want it to happen, it hurts alot to think of it that way. But lets all put on a happy face and see if we cannot remedy this. with my lack of time though, I feel I have missed out on getting a hold of the older anchors of the CB1 community. hopefully I am wrong.

Thraklight Resonance January 2 2006 9:38 PM EST

May I suggest to our fellow CB1 players who are leaving that Jay's farewell is the proper way to say goodbye.

Good luck, Jay, if you decide to stay away for good from CB.

[YG]Wildthing January 3 2006 12:11 PM EST

It truly was the community of CB1 that kept me playing for as long as I did. Just knowing that when I logged in, there would be people to talk to and just have a great time. I know I will never forget the good times we all had there. And I will definitely never forget the awesome people that made up the community. I wish the best to all of you, and hope we will still be able to talk once in awhile.
