Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] January 5 2006 10:38 PM EST

So is Carnage Blender 2...

amazingly better than CB1

OR

super amazingly better than CB1

You decide, it's the vote that counts.

Maelstrom January 5 2006 10:42 PM EST

No question: super amazingly better than CB1.

Cb2...opinion

lets see....

you missed the correct opinion in there, I believe.

QBPixel Sage January 5 2006 10:43 PM EST

Depends on what aspect of the game you're talking about. Everyone says CB1's community was better, though I never took part in that. I however don't see why CB2's community can't be as good, and I've had a pretty good experience with it so far.

Programming wise? CB2. Layout's much more efficient, easier to get rare weapons (with rare spawning in auctions), awesome people filtering out multis (okay that's not programming but heck), and more =D

QBRanger January 5 2006 10:44 PM EST

It is a different game. Not better, not worse, but different.

Each has its good and bad points.

Why do we keep this up, beating this dead horse?

Be careful. You may be close to pulling a Mythology. :)

Blarg January 5 2006 11:42 PM EST

wheres the mushu option?

{CB1}Carp King January 6 2006 12:07 AM EST

/me starts the MUSHU chant. MUSHU! MUSHU!! MUSHU!!! MUSHU!!!! MUSHU!!!!! MUSHU!!!!!!

Actually I do like CB1 better for ease, you could tank a SINGLE tank a long way, here there is almost no way of doing that. In other words less strat and less brains needed to be somewhat good at it. I do actually like most of the changes that Jon made from CB1 to CB2 and wish that he would have done it to CB1 just to see what eveyone would do/say when "I WIN" is turned into a base 50 weapon ;)

Oh yea and CB1 had MUSHU!!!!!!!

sssimmo January 6 2006 12:12 AM EST

3/4 vote for 'CB2'

1/4 vote for 'Mushu is holding back the advancement of my character'

MrC [DodgingTheEvilForgeFees] January 6 2006 12:31 AM EST

Better than CB1.

It doesn't matter about the new features and all of that stuff.
What matters is that from Jan 1st onwards CB1 no longer had Jon keeping it up to date, CB2 did. Through all the changes it's still the same game, it's never changed. The only loss was that you had to lose your character and all the money/items you'd saved up.
I was horrified when I first read the post declaring this, but it soon dawned on me that rather than a setback, this was an opportunity. I got to liquidate all of my assets on CB1 and waste them on messing around with all the strategies previously unthinkable. My own time doing this combined with a few others doing the same was in my opinion the birth of the CB2 single mage strategy. Just a useless fact there.
Anyway, those of us with big CB1 characters would be hypocrites to complain about CB2 starting. We had big characters because we'd worked harder than everyone who had smaller characters. In other words, we'd earnt the right to be bigger than the little guys. If we were working so hard, why would CB2 be any different? We'd still be that far ahead. And those of us that didn't go off and cry about it proved once and for all that it was nothing more than a new opportunity. From Steve G's The Steveh (1# for a long time), Moose's Hypnotoad (freakishly good character that owned us all for a while), and how could we forget Ranger's TAB, all of these guys saw that it wasn't an unfair nerf. That it'd be just the same as CB1, and as a result, they took the top and stayed there.

There is no reason CB2 could be any less than CB1 was, aside from a few of the people who never frequently visited CB2. We lost a good part of our community but through it all, most of us have found our way back eventually. And CB is just as good as ever, regardless of the number beside it.

I started with CB1 in mid 2004. And I nearly turned around and disappeared straight away. What I saw of the community at that point seemed cliquey and at every turn I felt shut out. A lot of the big names at the time came across as arrogant and un-helpful. Plus this was the time of Di's 'family' which annoyed the hell out of me. There were a few people like Mr C and Shade who didn't pull the whole "newb? must be stupid" thing but they were exceptions.
But I stuck with it and by the time CB2 was announced had managed to get my char Raven to a million score. Not bad for six months, and very annoying then to see that a new game was starting. Cb2 levelled the field somewhat and although it took me a few months to get my head around the differences and keep up with the changes I did. And I've found it a lot more satisfying. As Ranger says it is a different game, but one I prefer.
I'm not seen in chat, due to playing at work and it not working at home very well on my rusty old computer (now deceased :\) but I do hook up with a lot of people on CM and in the forums and I feel much more part of the community here than I did in CB1. But now I'm an old timer really aren't I?!?!

CB2 for me.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 6 2006 4:06 AM EST

I agree with what both MrC and Johnny have said, Jon stopping updating CB1 (especially with things like the majorly unbalanced ELBow + Archery still existing) killed CB1 for me.

I joined CB1 around the same time a Johnny and did find it initially hard to join the community, for the main reason that I dodn't use chat (for mostly the same reasons as Johnny as well!), but I stumbled on headfirst with a desire to make a single mage 'tank'. But, my mentor was great, I'll even give him a capital 'G', he was Great, really helped me, made me feel welcome and comfortable.

I felt dejected when CB2 was announced, especially with no time frame for it's start given. I lost the urge to play CB1 totally. But signed up for CB2 the day it opened.

CB2 isn't really a different game to CB1, it's just an update. But did the update really require a new version? I can't asnwer that, so will support Jon with his decision.

As for the commuity, there should be absolutly no reason it is any different to CB1. If everyone moved over. Some didn't, and personally, I think that not only is that their loss, it's a loss for the game as a whole. But if people want to cut their nose off to spite thier face....

The only thing I don't like with CB2 compared to CB1 is temporary naming. Apart from that, there is no reaosn to favour CB1.

Shark January 6 2006 5:48 AM EST

its not the game it was the new people they put in charge that made CB2 kinda sucky

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 6 2006 5:52 AM EST
