had a problem with botcheck (in General)

velvetpickle January 6 2006 1:28 PM EST

I left CB sitting idle on my computer unattened for about an hour waiting for my BA to come back up. When I returned, I had a few fights and received a botcheck.

When attempting to answer the question, every time I would type in the box it would display jibberish.
(ie. I would type a lowercase "j" and caps "ASDF" would enter in the text box... I felt there may have been a problem with something being stuck on my keyboard so I opened a text file outside of IE and was able to type with no problem, in it. When returning to the botcheck, I would get the same jibberish after verifying in the text editor.

This leads me to believe there was something strange happening within CB... but I have no idea what could cause it.

I attempted to close my IE and reopen CB to see what would happen, and when I returned the two minutes had expired and I received a one hour suspension, but I was able to type normally in chat and here in this post.

Any ideas let me know. I guess from now on I will close out CB when waiting for BA to build up, but short of that I have no idea what would cause an error like this.

Thanks
velvetpickle

First of all: IE and your Notepad are 2 different things.

Second: I don't know all of it but i once played another java game that made my CB bot checks gibberish also, so close them also before playing.

Third, if you type a lower caps j and ASDF would be entered, there is something wrong with your pc i think...

Fourth, closing IE and opening it again shouldn't take longer than a minute, making you able to enter it yet again.

So the idea would be, not using another java game while CB is loaded in IE also perhaps, or just close and open IE faster ;)

Your missed bot checks have been "typical" misses as far as I can see.

Your last 3 fails appear to have been: met//net, mats//mat, toil//foil

I don't understand why you would be seeing anything else??

Shade...

I realize that notepad and ie are unrelated, which is why I tried using it to attempt to "rule out" a problem with my pc... I know that it does not completly rule it out, but the fact that notepad was working fine, as well as chat and my forum post tends to lead me to believe that it was not a problem with my pc...

Thanks for everyones responses, and just as an update I was not running any other java programs, or ie windows at the time...

Also, the two minutes expired due to a few failed attempts keying in my response, then taking the time to open a notepad doccument, then closing/reopening the ie window.

I'm not sure where you are able to pull up the failed bot checks (noob), but I never submitted an answer to the botcheck in question due to the fact that I could see the answers input were jibberish... The failed attempt I am writing about should have no answer input, or an "ASDF" type reply.

Thanks again everyone, this may have just been some type of fluke problem on my pc, but if not it would be beneficial to find the cause...

I know it is highly unlikey, but it almost seemed as if the i/o from my computer had been "hijacked" (for lack of a better word) on it's way to inputting in the game window...

By (noob) I was saying I am a newbie not insinuating any type of insult, on rereading the post I thought there could have been a little ambiquity in that statement and wanted to clear it up before insulting anyone...

Just for your future knowledge, G_Beee is a Full Admin. and he was able to look up which botchecks you failed.

As with most strange browser behavior, it's not CB's fault. Good luck. :)
