Well, I have a bit of a problem, and no idea how to fix it :)

It seems every time I play a certain game online (Risk Your Life: Path of the Emperor) and then exit the game, I can no longer open new things (Windows media player...firefox...ect.)

Anyone have an idea what might be causing this? I suspect its probably something wrong with the game, so some way to fix it would be nice :P

i had a small problem kinda like this but i could get them to open but not by clicking them. I had to right click then hit open. Eventually within an hour or so i could go back to clicking on the icon.

Have you tried doing that? I dont know how or what triggered the problem but i know that that worked for me.

Sounds like RAM, it probably can open, it will just take a long time to load if you do not have enough RAM, if it is a recent much needed graphics/RAM game, then thats probably the problem...RAM.

How much RAM do you have?

Maybe when you turn the game off it is still running. I know it sounds funny but sometimes that happends to me.

Check your task manager and then look in processes. Look for the game name or click the "Mem Usage" so it sorts the highest towards the top. Once done hopefully it is your game that you "closed". Then just right click and end it.

If that doesnt work i honestly dont know then. Sorry

it could possibly be spyware or a virus from the game... its possible.

@Pau1: my computer meets the reccomended requirements for the game (512 MB RAM + Video Card), and in the past when I played the open beta of the game, I had no issues like this :-/

@Leon: I have had that problem before (process still running) and it was the first thing I checked for, doesn't seem to be the problem here.

So far just logging out of my windows username then logging back in fixes the problem, but is a bit annoying to have to do every time I play the game :)

Have you checked the forums of the game's website for similar bug reports? Tried posting there?

Slayer: howmuch RAM does your PC actually have? if it is 512 then i'd suggest upgrading to 1 GB, reason is Windows XP + the game might wish for more than just the requirements :)
