tscm January 18 2006 8:34 PM EST

haha, stupid, nerds can't be cool

Tre Cool January 18 2006 8:37 PM EST

This coming from a nerd, nice insult buddy!

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 18 2006 8:40 PM EST

wheres the admin?? I thought you cant do this kind a crap.

Karmic Mishap [Soup Ream] January 18 2006 8:41 PM EST

You'd think if people were going to vandalize a wiki, they'd do so in a way that would last longer than five seconds. Is there an admin around? ^_^

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] January 18 2006 9:10 PM EST

i dont see anything, fixed already?

QBPixel Sage January 18 2006 9:11 PM EST

Introducing Tre Cool, the player who couldn't figure out how to use fireball correctly, in result took out his anger on the wiki board.

YOU January 18 2006 9:20 PM EST

no it's just another multi of bobbins/inferno

Mikel [Bring it] January 18 2006 9:54 PM EST

I hate restrictions, but maybe it's time to consider locking down the wiki to non-supporters, or at least until after their NUB expires, then they get access to make changes to the wiki. That way someone can't just do something to it right after creating a new account.

QBOddBird January 18 2006 9:56 PM EST

I have to agree with you, Mikel. That's an excellent idea, as restrictive as it may be.

QBPixel Sage January 18 2006 9:56 PM EST

I second Mikel's suggestion.

RedWolf January 18 2006 10:01 PM EST

i agree....maybe not until the NUB expires, 4 months seems much too long. i like the supporter idea, or perhaps after a few weeks/month?

QBOddBird January 18 2006 10:04 PM EST

The supportership idea is better - you have to have invested either enough money to get it or some of your actual cash, and that isn't worthwhile for a simple troll. Not usually, at least.

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] January 18 2006 10:06 PM EST

I agree with OB's opinions but I still think it should be after NUB expires because otherwise it would be too restrictive for the Wiki to evolve well.

sssimmo January 18 2006 10:12 PM EST

Keep that up Inferno and "someone" will turn up at your front door and drag you away.

Bootsanator January 18 2006 10:37 PM EST

maybe supportership OR 4 months, whichever comes first?

MaLicious [Ascendancy] January 19 2006 3:17 AM EST

Yes supporter ship or 4 months. Mikel don't say NUB because not all of use are slow learners or idiots. I think making it to supporters would be fine and would be a new thing to add to the benefits.

AdminShade January 19 2006 3:33 AM EST

I think there should just be a soft lock for pages that are nearly finished, and that they can be unlocked by (sub) Admins for a while and be locked after a player has made a change again.

That way there is a security check on what is being added.

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] January 19 2006 3:48 AM EST

I like the supporter idea. It lets anyone serious about the game edit the Wiki, and if someone really wants to make trouble that means they are at least paying Jon to do it. Sounds like a win-win.

Special J January 19 2006 4:02 AM EST

Pages are easy to rollback, I am not sure how much this person defaced either.

I like the Supporter only editing, or post nub. I would imagine either would work, but I can't fully say they are needed.

Karmic Mishap [Soup Ream] January 19 2006 8:14 AM EST

Hmmm, preventing this guy's edits would be really easy.
He replaced entire pages of content with 'gck' or some other gibberish... the pages just need to be kept to a certain percentage of their old sizes... unless an admin deletes it? Page deletion would definitely be handy for the day when somebody with a brain tries to pull such a stunt.

bartjan January 19 2006 8:35 AM EST

The idea behind a Wiki is to motivate each and every user to update the information themselves. Input by newbies should also be welcomed in the Wiki, as they have a different perspective on the game.
The Wiki already provides tools to help clean up the damage, and banning those that spam should be a sufficient deterrent.

What may help is a list per user of all edits that user has made. The 'All Recent Edits' link doesn't always provide enough history to find all spammage done by a user that needs to be cleaned up.

QBsutekh137 January 19 2006 11:32 AM EST

Maybe not when NUB expires, but when a player "graduates" to room carnage? At what time period does that occur in? Of course, supportership trumps all of this and allows wiki changes.

I agree that input from new people is important, but reality has to be faced. Folks are web and wiki savvy these days, and some folks just like to cause trouble. Putting a small wait period makes sense to me. As for whether or not it will help, who knows. Can't really say we have had a huge problem with vandals, and the wiki is easy to fix with no permanent harm...

So, heck, I don't know what to do. *smile*

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] January 19 2006 1:50 PM EST

"Mikel don't say NUB because not all of use are slow learners or idiots."
Hope you're joking. ;)

YNM January 19 2006 4:10 PM EST

*us

Jeez gun, your such a NUB.

Flamey January 19 2006 9:38 PM EST

i do agree about the needing of a restriction to the wiki. but before i was a supporter i edited/cleaned up many things on the wiki. but that was because i couldnt pay for supportership
