BA cost increase problem. (in General)

sssimmo January 24 2006 6:27 PM EST

Facts:
-BA cost is defined by your largest character.
-Ba cost will drop if you retire your biggest character. (not 100% sure on this one)

'Problem:
I am using my NCB character Disco. I have not been using my largest character Deceptively Massive. My BA costs however are increasing at a rapid rate. I notice the cost change as I am fighting and gaining XP with Disco. How could this be if my largest character is Deceptively Massive? I tried retiring "Dec Mass" for 5 days, did not affect my BA cost.

Correction:

BA cost is defined by your character that gains XP fastest.

I would just like to highlight this statement:

***I notice the COST CHANGE AS I am fighting and gaining XP with DISCO.***

Didn't see your post before my second Jon.

But am I still paying too much? It's currently $560.

sssimmo January 24 2006 6:37 PM EST

BA cost was about $470 or less when I started my NCB character.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] January 24 2006 6:38 PM EST

BA costs more for NCB and NUB chars

sssimmo January 24 2006 6:42 PM EST

So BA cost will increase with NCB character and (somehow calculated in conjunction with) the cost of highest mpr character?

Maelstrom January 24 2006 8:44 PM EST

sssimmo, BA currently costs me 733 each. I haven't been able to afford to buy BA in quite a while now :(
Well, I would be able to if I wasn't upgrading my gear... ;)

Mikel [Bring it] January 25 2006 12:08 AM EST

Mine costs 894 each and I haven't missed buying any yet, since starting my NCB.
But it's worth it. There are quite a few days, that I have 100% of all possible ba used for the day, and others that put me in the 90% range. I am expecting to see 1k per ba before my NCB expires.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 25 2006 12:17 AM EST

if you fought all your normal BA and fought all higher lvl opponents, you might be able to afford NCB BA, otherwise, have a bankroll to back it up.

Quark January 25 2006 9:53 AM EST

Lovely, ain't it? The NCB multiplier is applied to normal BA purchase costs as well as any fight penalties for missed bot checks or multi fight suspensions.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 25 2006 4:46 PM EST

yeah the ncb like doubles your ba cost it sucks.

AdminShade January 25 2006 5:02 PM EST

which is why the NCB is a choice... you chose for the NCB and the downside is higher BA cost...

(end of off topic whines i hope)

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 25 2006 5:04 PM EST

what is the purpose of the ncb if you cant purchase as much BA there is no decent reason why the BA cost should go up.

AdminShade January 25 2006 5:08 PM EST

the NCB lets players who were unable to get to the #1, get another chance at that by increasing their experience rewards.

the trade off is that those players who get an NCB character already have either played a long while or have had the NUB and were able to acquire enough money already.

So then you have it that you 'could' have had the money you so desperately need to buy your precious ba to get even more experience than you already get.

get the point?

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 25 2006 5:11 PM EST

yes

AdminShade January 25 2006 5:15 PM EST

good ^_^

(note: i did not mean any offense in my reasoning, its just how i see the NCB in the game, and that's the reason why i don't use it)

Maelstrom January 25 2006 5:18 PM EST

Shade, you weren't offensive, just brutally honest ;)

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 25 2006 5:22 PM EST

yes he was brutally honest but normally some of the stuff he says to me seems to be kinda offensive or maybe he just tells the truth.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 25 2006 5:24 PM EST

i guess i just dont like the truth.
truth hurts. lol

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] January 25 2006 5:31 PM EST

so i could make a new char, and not retire my main, and fight with the new char for a bit, and then go back to forging and buy BA at like 100 per BA just because my new char was making exp faster than my main??

AdminShade January 25 2006 5:33 PM EST

that's where the 'for a bit' comes in play, if you only play with it 'for a bit' it doesn't work ;)

QBsutekh137 January 25 2006 5:34 PM EST

As far as I know, trying to do the character swap trick to manipulate any of the character-related rates (forging, BA cost, BA refresh, etc.) doesn't work, or only works for a bit as you switch back in forth. In other words, you will never really get any net gain, you will just be building two characters at once. *smile*

Maelstrom January 25 2006 5:37 PM EST

When I first started my NCB character, I still had my old large character active, which made my BA cost more than it normally would have. By the time I finally sold that character (maybe a week later) my NCB character was large enough that BA cost more they had with my older, larger character... *sigh*
