Merging Rare ammo with normal (in General)

Hi all, a thought that just occured to me. Would it be a bad idea to have rare ammo much liked named ammo (or something like a quiver)?

The last arrow never get's used and you can merge normal ammo with it, which keeps the rare property (but at an increased cost to merging the same type of rares together).

Or would this lead to everyone having all the rare ammo they wanted?

Everyone could then buy just one set of rare ammo and then just keep merging regular ammo with it.
The end result would be to kill the market value of rare ammo and soon every tank would be using slayers or seekers.

But the offset is the expense to merge normal ammo with rare ammo. Unless I'm mistaken, rare ammo isn't used too much, as well, it's too rare.

But whatever happens, it shouldn't become easily available.

Only 1 person in cb2 that I know of used rare ammo almost exclusively.

That was Sefton when he was playing Gyaxx. He used DM instead of AMF at that time and needed seekers vs enemy mages.

Then, alas, archery was neutered and then camping abolished and his supply of seekers dried up.

Now, I do not think it is wise to use seeker arrows except in defense or in special cases where you just "have" to beat someone. Slayers are even more useless, IMO, since if you need them to beat someone, you should not be fighting them anyway. I feel that if you cannot beat someone with x1 +0 arrows, you should not be fighting them.

But.. If we could merge normal arrows with seekers or slayers, perhaps archery would come back into vogue. That way you would always have a supply. Of course there should be some extra cost converting normal ammo to specialty ammo.

Only reason I ever saw for rare ammo was for defense vrs clan farming, it really only helped when ranged rounds meant something to tanks...

And now with cooldown, even using seekers for defense is not really practical.

I thought ammo had been exempted?
