A Whip [9x8] (+7) owned by Dead Friends for 14 points started at 6:50 AM EST
how can i upgrade an item for 14 points in one go ? Maybe i'm missing sth. here, but i'd really like to know how i can do this with my adam.

If you increase 7points on both + and x at the same time = 14 points.

hence (love that word) Adam can't add "x" so you can only do 7 at a time.
