On my charector newb if have a minion that has 4 million trained into ablative shield. Does this make sense. Or should it be something else.

Why would that not make sense? that's the amount of experience you put into it to get it to whatever level it's at.
It all depends on what you want to do with the team .. it'll help the CoC mage stay alive longer ... Add an RoS onto that minion and then DM wont weaken the AS ..

Does having that much make any sense? I don't know cause i have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just here to pick up girls.
DM and GA are the least sensible items for your setup, hire two more minions and train AMF (getting an RoS would be super keen) and you don't even have to retrain.
