why are ex/axbow so useless (in General)

i know about the PL thing where they don't drain anything.
but did people just use it for the drain and not for damage?

i dont think it is bad, the damage i mean.

is it way more expensive to upgrade this, than say a Heavy xbow and a composite bow(which both have a base of 4)??

no blasting please just opinions and explanations.

i don't have a big + ax/ex but after +50 the upgrade cost is over 10mil a point i think. The biggest AX in game only do around 40-50k per shot so yes its just for the drain not the damge..the main point is if it require lot of xp to cancel drain effect than its ok (fair trade).. but the truth is u can simply get a 20-30k pl and cancel all drain effect even one from a 60mil nw ax.

oh didnt think it would actually cost that much, is axbow more expensive to upgrade than the exbow by a considerable amount?

should be same.. biggest the + greater the effect of drain thats why its so expensive.

From x40 to x41 is 350k, from x46 to x47 is 700k. Axbow. The upgrade costs for the + is comparable to the upgrade costs for the + on a big melee weapon.

I have one of the bigger axbows. For my axbow (currently x49 +50):

It isn't that the upgrade costs are so high, but that an upgrade in x increases damage by so a small amount as to be useless.

Upgrading from x48 to x49 increased my damage by an average of 0.1%. So the upgrades value is really only in the increased DX drain. But with PL, that's often negated.

I sometimes do as much as 45k per hit, but often less than 10k.

Some facts:

- Axbow and Exbow damage modifier upgrade costs are quite steep.
- Axbows and Exbows don't do the same damage at the same damage modifiers as an ELB.
- Axbows and Exbows don't have any item or skill that aids them in dealing more damage (no unique item which does it in respect to another weapon)


So Axbows and Exbows were initially used to drain DX and ST and the damage was a nice bonus.

note: someone had let me know about the Beleg's Gloves, they aren't specific for Exbow / Axbow so they fall into #3 of my facts :)
