Themes for my new CB code (in General)

QBPixel Sage May 8 2006 2:21 PM EDT

I created this separate thread to discuss specifically on themes, and so any dialogue about this wouldn't get lost in a contest thread. As most of you know, I'm entering in Jon's re-Imagine CB! contest. Some of you have already seen my BattleTech theme applied to my new code, as well as my newest theme dubbed Jet.

I'm only going to make two more themes, a default theme and another more "robust" theme. Why only two more? Well, first off, I have to have a default theme anyways. Secondly, I want to do even more experimentation with the theme engine I created. However, I'm only one among many (there's many, right?) contestants, and it would be utterly useless if I created 324587 themes but didn't win. Anyways, I would like your opinions.

What should the default theme look like? Similar to what the default theme new, with a red/gray color scheme?

Now, the more robust theme. Today in art class (oh, how I dread that class), I sketched a mockup World of WarCraft (or World of CarnageBlender, if you will) theme, and I think it'll turn out nicely. Of course, I'm open to more ideas. I previously had one commission to make a paladin-like theme, which I ended up giving up on because the current theming engine is just too restrictive, though I could easily do it now. I can make virtually any type of theme you guys want.

So, throw up your ideas. I will probably do my World of CB theme unless I find another idea I like.

Have fun =D

That's for Mac isn't it??? XP

AdminJonathan May 8 2006 2:41 PM EDT

How is IE6 support coming? :)

QBPixel Sage May 8 2006 2:45 PM EDT

@BlueWolf: wha?

@Jonathan: Good question. Check your CM ;)

QBPixel Sage May 8 2006 2:59 PM EDT

Final Fantasy theme, anyone? =D

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] May 8 2006 3:01 PM EDT

:o

I'd pay for that 0.o

AdminShade May 8 2006 3:13 PM EDT

Earith? <3

{CB1}Lukeyman May 8 2006 3:34 PM EDT

How about a "We Love Lukey" Theme?

BlueWolf May 8 2006 3:36 PM EDT

I meant "Wasn't that done on a Mac computer??"

It just looks wierd, and i've only been on a Macintosh computer once.

QBPixel Sage May 8 2006 7:54 PM EDT

Shade... Aerith, you mean? Haha. That's if you're talking about FF. Bluewolf, yes its done on a mac. I'm a mac user, after all =D

BlueWolf May 8 2006 8:28 PM EDT

lol, that would be why it looked so wierd. But cool, i like it. :)

I've been hoping for a nice Emacs-style theme for a long time... almost two years now. Some example screenshots of Emacs from the web:

I could make a screenshot of my own, if you wanted.

Of course, if you don't want to do an Emacs theme, I'd be happy with a minimal, code-style theme, preferably with a black background and high contrast text-colours.

QBPixel Sage May 9 2006 12:53 AM EDT

I'm gearing towards a FF theme right now. As for the emacs theme, I could probably do that, but probably some other time.

Drakon(DS) May 9 2006 2:47 AM EDT

i like the FF theme idea but if your familair with outlaw star or cowboy bebop try them too

Flamey May 9 2006 2:53 AM EDT

on the internet is there a difference in the format of a website with either a mac or non-mac?

because i like the jet theme, just looks to mac-like.
sorry to go off-topic, but i like jet, currently using battle-tech.

a FF theme would look cool :D

QBPixel Sage May 9 2006 10:23 AM EDT

Of course there's no difference in the theme =P. Its the internet, haha.

Well, that depends. Most websites will look the same... unless you're using internet exploiter, which borks every website it touches. But my theme was fixed to work in IE anyways.

QBPixel Sage May 9 2006 10:28 AM EDT

A not so quick beginning mockup of the FF theme. Subject to change drastically ;)

AdminShade May 9 2006 11:20 AM EDT

why not a cbstuff.nl based theme? :p

QBPixel Sage May 10 2006 1:37 AM EDT

Dang, so many dumb moments for me. I switched to a CB tab on my browser and tried to go to active threads... was wondering why it didn't work until I realized I was playing CB on my test code.

Anyways, I think my FF theme is shifting more directly to an FFX theme. We'll see.

*Not FFX-2. I was inspired by Titus' blue aqua sword (that's his name, right?). And the outfits are way too skimpy in X-2 anyways.

Flamey May 10 2006 1:52 AM EDT

never played FF only tactics on GBA and its awesome, reason is, my family doesn't like sony so we are the nintendo people, but i know FF is cool game.

the logo looks a bit big maybe cut it down a bit? idk, just my opinion, i always saw the logo in a more rectangular shape :)

Drakon(DS) May 10 2006 3:27 AM EDT

nice start pixel keep it going

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] May 10 2006 4:00 PM EDT

boo....go FF8 ; D

QBPixel Sage May 11 2006 11:15 PM EDT

Having some design problems, icky.

Working on default theme:

QBPixel Sage May 17 2006 1:03 AM EDT

AdminShade May 17 2006 1:11 AM EDT

imo the carnage blender font doesn't fit the 'modern' default theme.

Maelstrom May 17 2006 1:30 AM EDT

Looks great! Though Shade may be right about that font.

I'd prefer that the divider bars be much darker, but who cares what I think ;)

Flamey May 17 2006 1:49 AM EDT

both are looking good pixel ;)

AdminQBVerifex May 17 2006 1:00 PM EDT

Neat Interfaces Pixel. Is anyone working on an interface that throws the conventional look-and-feel of the sidebar out the window?

I have a great idea for some, but its much more difficult to design using pure CSS then I thought. :)

[DC]Final Fight May 17 2006 1:02 PM EDT

how about a kingdom hearts theme. You can include all the final fantasy characters in it too.
