FS/WTB (in Public Record)

A Bathing Ape May 11 2006 1:02 AM EDT

This is for advertisements of characters or non-forging services (such as loans, item naming, supporterships, etc.) for sale or wanted-to-buy. Those looking to buy or sell items are encouraged to use the built-in auction system instead, which is custom-built for this purpose and has several advantages over a generic forum: CB auctions are scam-proof, searchable, and offer email alerts for buyers interested in specific items.

If you choose to start a new thread here anyway (either because what you have to say isn't easily translated into an auction, or because you Just Feel Like Posting), you will be automatically assessed a fee of $2,000. Posting in another forum to dodge the fee will result in a fine of $25,000. You may post addenda or otherwise "bump" your post, but each reply will also cost $2,000. (Only the thread creator may reply to his posts; it proved contentious to allow others to post potentially off-topic material as well.)

FS/WTB threads are closed after two days, and deleted after six months.

[mail:] Saw you having 2 open threads regarding you wanting to buy elven boots. Please keep such threads open until it closes before making a new thread, I won't close the new one but will if you make another new one within the 48 hour period of the older being open.

you created to forums about the same thing...no reason to do that is what the chatmail is about

sssimmo May 11 2006 1:15 AM EDT

Someone was telling you not to make 2 FS/WTB threads within 48hrs. Just keep using the first one until it is automatically closed then you may start a new one if need be.

I just felt like posting twice.

Dudley Dotson May 11 2006 6:02 AM EDT

If you choose to start a new thread here anyway (either because what you have to say isn't easily translated into an auction, or because you Just Feel Like Posting<--------------------------- hehe but it'd be cheaper to bump...

Timberwolf May 11 2006 6:09 AM EDT

Wouldn't it have been easier to reply to the chatmail you received, posing your question to them, instead of airing it out(rather vaguely I might add) here?

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] May 11 2006 6:16 AM EDT

If an opinion/question isn't posed in public, has it really been addressed at all?

Timberwolf May 11 2006 6:24 AM EDT

No, apparently it has to be posted in a public forum for everyone to scrutinize.
There's less potential for trouble/scandal if it is dealt with privately.

AdminShade May 11 2006 12:25 PM EDT

so nice of you to not just contact me in person.

Yes it was me, Shade, who sent him that message.

1: I am an admin, and I am chosen by Jonathan because I know the rules better than most (or at least one would think I would)
2: Why complain in public record instead of just asking ME why I sent you that message?
3: The reason I sent you that message was to prevent spam, how would you feel if someone was making 5 threads with all the same sale?

4: People in all the 2.5 years that I have played Carnage Blender have always had their duplicate threads (FS or not) being deleted to prevent those duplicates, don't make another thread if you don't have to.
5: Paying for a thread doesn't make you right to flood/spam the forum
6: "Just feel like it" well 5 covers that already

7 and final: I only was making a kind gesture to educate / inform you, not to point my finger at you and call you a bad boy/girl.

thats my 7 cents, next time you have a problem with someone sending you a CM with a warning or friendly advice, just contact that person first before crying wolf.

I was forum banned for post bump [too many times?] So., bending words of the "law" will just end up like moi.
