Fastest time you've cleared Kingdom Hearts 2. (in Off-topic)

Gallatin [Thanoscopter And You] May 13 2006 11:29 PM EDT

I cleared it about 11 hours in, since I dedicate most of my time playing.

Note: This is not a contest, I repeat, this is not a contest.

[DC]Final Fight May 13 2006 11:40 PM EDT

wow, did you skip all the movies? I managed to beat it in about 18 hours, but i had just about everything before i did.

QBsutekh137 May 14 2006 12:45 AM EDT

I love the new generation! The shorter the game the better! *smile*

I remember the classics (and not just RPGs) that could offer 30-40 hours. I'm no slouch on speed, though I do spend a bit of additional time getting extras and such to make the later game easier...

My rule of thumb these days is that I would like to get at least an hour of gameplay per dollar I spend on the game (come on, people, $40-$50 is a lot of scratch). Sometimes that comes from replayability, and that's acceptable to me. In recent years, the only games that have been able to give me that time are the King's Field games (don't laugh) and the GTA series. Oh, and Frequency/Amplitude (they would fall well into the replayability category). Even some of the bigger RPG franchises don't cut the mustard anymore... I really enjoy the Wild Arms games, but now those roll credits after 25 hours or so (unless I _really_ stall myself with levelling up , etc.)

I have heard nothing but grand things about KH2, but if 15-20 hours is the finish time, I'll pass. It's sad that so few games actually offer extended play time any more...

I agree with you completely Sutekh i love spending years to completely beat Morrowind :)

[DC]Final Fight May 14 2006 12:48 AM EDT

i didn't really buy the game for it's length, more for it's story. Since i beat the first one i had been dying to find out what happens in the second one and how the story ends. I think i got what i payed for and more since the gameplay was so much better than the first as well. If you took the time to play the first one, then I would highly recommend getting this one.

By the way has anyone managed to beat Sephiroth?

QBsutekh137 May 14 2006 12:56 AM EDT

You are right, I can say I have felt satisfied on less time (time doesn't always equate to goodness...)

I don't know who Sephiroth is... Not much help to you there... *smile*

SuiteStuff [C and S Forgery Lmtd.] May 14 2006 1:22 AM EDT

lol...i love that game FFVII...i love all final fantasy games anyways...but for some reason i get to the last boss and delete my file and start over...i never finish a game dont want to...want to keep playing over and over...some day when time is right i will eventually have to beat it!

YNM May 14 2006 1:56 AM EDT

75 hours, 100% completion lvl 100

[DC]Final Fight May 14 2006 2:07 AM EDT

it would take a lot of self restraint to put as many hours as it takes into FFVII numerous times and not beat it once. Why would anyone do something like that?

InebriatedArsonist May 14 2006 2:14 AM EDT

Following the plot is apparently overrated these days, Sut.

Undertow May 14 2006 3:22 AM EDT

I almost never beat RPG's, I never want the story to end. I've never beaten FFVII.

But the kind for my "bang for the buck" would definetly be Final Fantasy Tactics. The game actually tracking you past 99 hours, and on just one trip through the game I spent 650 hours.

I've bought the game 3 times, for 40, 20, and 20 dollars. That's 80 bucks. That's 12.3 cents per hour of play. And people wonder why I play video games.

And that was just THAT trip through. I've played the game probably total 1500 hours.

Only game I've played longer than that is A.D.O.M., which I can only imagine my play time on. But it's learning curve is crazy long. www.adom.de

bartjan May 14 2006 4:46 AM EDT

See speeddemosarchive.com to see how fast you can finish a game. But, you don't have to finish it that fast...

Gallatin [Thanoscopter And You] May 14 2006 8:30 AM EDT

Notice: Sorry if this is late, but I was playing on the easy mode of KH2. It'd take much longer on the Proud difficulty.

AdminShade May 14 2006 10:45 AM EDT

I know quite some of those games listed on that website, was great seeing them again, and so fast! >.<

Mem May 14 2006 1:53 PM EDT

I spent 65 hours beating KH2, with 98% completion of Jiminy's Journal, 72% of Gummi Ship completion, and a level 75 character, on normal mode. The game certainly isn't short if you don't want it to be. It all depends on your level of devotion towards getting every last thing there is to get.

QBsutekh137 May 14 2006 5:50 PM EDT

Damn, I might have to look that up, then... That sounds cool!

Mem May 14 2006 10:41 PM EDT

It was really cool. And if you played the first one and liked it then you're bound to like the second one even better.

Flamey May 15 2006 2:23 AM EDT

how could you spend 1500 hours on FFT?, i played it and got around to the last boss and, my emulator stuffed up, but still, i spent maybe 100 hours on it.

i hate playing games on easy its a waste of time, and makes you look crap at the game, >normal i say

Nightmare [NewNightmares] May 15 2006 6:18 AM EDT

Oh, its easy to lose yourself in FFT. The way its setup just begs for you to play through it again and again ;)

Sut, I'd rent/buy the original KH before even dreaming about touching KH2. Maybe even KH:Chain of Memories on GBA if you really want to get into the story.. (off-console sequels. Grr.) Excellent story to the games, and the vid at the end of KH2 as a bonus for beating it in proud mode/completing the journal in normal just makes you want to see what they have planned for Sora and the gang next. :)

Maelstrom May 15 2006 7:46 AM EDT

So this is a PS2 game, is it? No PC version?

Sir Leon [Soup Ream] May 15 2006 6:39 PM EDT

I dont recommend playing the second Kingdom hearts until you played the first!

Also, my stats on KH2 where 100% of jimminy's jornal, 86% of the gummi ships.

i spent about 68 hours on it. All that in two weeks! I ended up just taking it back to blockbuster without completing it all the way.

Its a great game and anyone who beats it under 60 hours shouldnt have even wasted there time playing it. Its a wonderful game with so much to do!

[me]Davis May 15 2006 9:52 PM EDT

i beat it in normal mode with 90% completion now going through again in proud mode to see secret ending.... its killing me..... btw how do you beat Sephiroth? im lvl 75 and its on normal i also got Ultima Weapon.... what am I doing wrong?

Gallatin [Thanoscopter And You] May 15 2006 10:57 PM EDT

Statistics when I beat the game:

1st time: level 44.
2nd time: level 44.
3rd time: level 65 (leveled up during the final battle).

[me]Davis May 18 2006 8:33 PM EDT

man i came so close to beating sephiroth in proud..... 7/9 bars depleated then he used some crazy attacks when i had no potions and my mp was recovering
