"New" fight code chokes on Opera (in General)

Frod June 5 2006 4:17 PM EDT

Just downloaded Opera 9 beta 2, and I notice that the AJAX-ified fight code doesn't seem to work. Looking at the javascript error console, I see this:

JavaScript - http://www.carnageblender.com/opponents-favorites.tcl
Javascript URL thread: "javascript:parent.sidebar.js_submit('fight.tcl')"
Error:
name: TypeError
message: Statement on line 1: Type mismatch (usually a non-object value used where an object is required)
Backtrace:
  Line 1 of unknown script
    parent.sidebar.js_submit("fight.tcl");

I haven't had a chance to look into it further, though.

If I were going to try to support a 3rd browser it would be Safari.

I can't remember Opera _ever_ working, actually...

never did for me on Opera, at least not for c enter based clan fighting.

Opera works, I've used it. Biggest problem is that the left frame dissapears when you fight someone.

AdminShade June 6 2006 3:18 PM EDT

could that be because the right frame is opened by the left frame?

AdminG Beee June 6 2006 3:57 PM EDT

As Jon said Opera isn't going to be supported any time soon.
As for the left frame vanishing when you fight someone this may very well be as a result of Opera issues or it may be related to CB and the effect other websites have on it. For example if you visit any page on www.bbc.co.uk whilst using Firefox and then navigate back to CB you will lose your sidebar when fighting. I made a post about this some time ago...

if there's a new cb format coming -- a la the 40 mil contest -- wouldn't it kind of redundant to try and fix the old version of cb?

Pit: the new format is layout, not code.

Isn't this more of a case of Opera choking on the code? ;)
I agree with Jon, I tried Opera once too, on the recommendation that it was 'very fast'. It was fast... but it just didn't work very well at all. A broken browser just isn't worth it. ^^;;
