Yesterday I was thinking, at the time a commercial for one of the funds for hurrican Katrina was on, an it hit me. We here have a Public Record fund to help pay back people who lost money in transactions, my idea is this. We have a fund that everyone can donate to, and when there are millions Jon can sell them for USD and donate it to some international charity (because of CB's very diverse community). What do you guys think?

I like the idea, but here are a few downsides. The main buyers of Cb happen to also have the most money (in general) so why would they donate when they just going to buy? but besides that, it is a great idea and I will be donating when I get some extra cash together.

Funny you should mention that. When the first Pacific tsunami hit, I took up a collection on CB1. It netted just under $200, which I matched and sent to Oxfam.
So yes, it works. :-)
There have been a number of drives here, the Charity account was setup just for this purpose. I forget all the details, but there have to be forum records.
we have done this before like Tehfreed saod. I remember the fund for hurricane Katrina on CB1 where we all sent money to character and than sold it for USD and than the USD was sent to the relief fund. I think Saint had a big part in it too running it if i am not mistaken! but i think is pointless unless a disaster happens, no one would want to donate it since nothing happened that makes them feel bad. good idea though!
sorry but Tehfreed= Tehfrod...sorry for the misspell...don't know how i couldn't remember your name!

CB does plenty for society by keeping some of us off the streets!
But yeah, there have been several instances of fund raising in the time I've been here (2 years now! Time flies...).

I seem to remember that on CB1, there was this christmas toy drive that people did, for a charity organization for those in need for christmas (I might be mistaken), but people donated things to somebody (I'm missing a name), and they sold it for USD and CB1$, then sold the CB1$ for USD at like 10% higher (because it was a good cause), then donated it. We netted quite a lot.. and we got a banner.. somewhere...

you all make the rather good point that you DO start charity drives and such... but I was thinking of something year round instead of when a disaster hits.
