New Idea: delayed charge for unlearning stats (in General)

Ok, here's what I think might be a new idea...

Allow people to unlearn and retrain stats without penalty, to see if a strat works. After a certain small amount of time (30 minutes?), apply the 10% or whatever penalty. This way people are more able to try different strats, without the fear that they'll lose out twice if it doesn't work.

That's a pretty cool idea! Might be complicated to implement, but useful for players.

A similar feature for re-inking tattoos would be nice ;)

The fear is actually a good thing...

well, actually, i've been thinking about something to help with testing strats that might just work...

implement a new battle arena, just like the one we have now, but only contains "tester characters". these characters start out with a bunch of cash, a bunch of equip, basically anything you'd want. you can fight other "tester characters" without using ba. There are no fight rewards. Each minion starts with enough experience to set up a strategy and see how it will work. The only reason I can think of that this wouldn't be implemented is A)too much work or B)takes away from the game, in that there is no longer mystery to what strat you should use. Still, I thought it was a cool idea.

The only problem with this, is that you can alter your character to fight specific opponents.

Facing a big mage? Retrain all your EC into AMF. Then untrain back into EC and go fight the Tanks on your list.

not balanced enough, I like it the way it is now best :)

I agree with your concern, GL. Maybe only allow it once a week/month?

UncleKracker August 15 2006 4:34 PM EDT

What's the point...

You unlearn your stat and lose exp 30 minutes later. Or within that 30 minutes you can unlearn it and go back to your original stats but you still lose exp.

The point is you can choose to undo the strat change if it doesn't work, and not lose 10% twice.

Well what about taking the X% unlearn hit like we do now, but instead dont charge another relearn fee if one switches back to the original strat in Y minutes?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 16 2006 3:59 AM EDT

That sounds cool Tez. :) And maybe have it down to something like 5 minutes? Enough time to change gear and amake a few fights, not long enough to really abuse the offer?

I'm one of those people that can't resist the unlearn function, trying out new things. If I could get back all the xp I've lost over the last two years I could build a whole new team, and they would be huge....

But, I like the penalty, price, whatever you want to label it. It makes you think about what you are doing, and it stops the people who would, like GL mentions, switching their strat around every so often to take on different opponents.

And those people exist. Plenty of people, even when the equipping cooldown was in place, switch between normal arrows and seekers to take on different opponents.

Don't give them this option for nothing please....
