Everything Obvilion (in Off-topic)

ThatOneMan August 23 2006 7:15 AM EDT

Well i have made new many seperate threads asking different questions bout obvilion and its probably clogged up the forums some and could been confusing with all the different ones. So im making this thread for all the obvilion stuff lol. Sorry bout all the others

1.Hmm i got a response in one of the other threads about this question but i will ask again. How do u get better weapons to do more dmg. I stole a Silver Longsword towards the beginning of the game and it did 5dmg. i am now lvl 4 and still have the sword and my blade skill increased and so did my strength but the sword is still showing it does only 5dmg. So do u find weapons that say they do more dmg or wat.

AdminShade August 23 2006 8:26 AM EDT

1. You will find better Swords later on in the game, Elven, Glass, Daedric and the likes will cross your path.

1a. You will probably need quite a lot of increase in Blade skill to notice the difference, and perhaps even go up to a higher proficiency level (journeyman after apprentice for example)

1b. I myself now am level 19 and have a level 70 Blade skill and have 9 damage on my Silver Long Sword and 11 on my Glass Short Sword.

ThatOneMan August 23 2006 9:32 AM EDT

i see.

2.Umm i read somewhere where i can buy a cheap house in Anvil for 5000 gold then do a quest to fix the house up for free. well i bought the house but where do i find the quest to fix it up. lol

AdminShade August 23 2006 11:16 AM EDT

2a. You will need to sleep in the house and notice it being haunted. Make sure to have loads of healing spells and Silver weapons to be able to kill the ghosts.

2b. I wouldn't recommend this quest if you are below level 10 because you will fight 10 ghosts which are quite uneasy to kill...

ThatOneMan August 23 2006 12:47 PM EDT

ok ill wait on that one...

3.When i get to level 10 and do that one Deradric Quest to get a skelaton key so then my lock picks wont break. So since my lock picks cant break does that mean if i use autopick it will always get it open since the picks cant break.

AdminShade August 23 2006 1:07 PM EDT

3. most likely yes, this can take quite a while perhaps, but since you have a +40 in security and can pick any lock while trying and keep on trying, you will be able to open any lock which doesn't require a special key.

ThatOneMan August 23 2006 3:04 PM EDT

ok thank you.

4.Umm im doing that where spirits have lease quest and im reading the stratgegy guide thats on cheat cc about that quest. it tells me to go to imperial city and find out where the guy is staying. i did that. then it says find the guy. i did that. then it says he should feel sorry about selling me the manor which he did but then it also says he will return to anvil with me to lift the curse. He isnt agreeing to go back to anvil with me and i cant bribe him because its all the way at 100. So with that being at 100 he should agree to come but hes saying he wont.

AdminQBVerifex August 23 2006 5:38 PM EDT

How about not spoiling the game for those of us that haven't played that far? yeah.. thanks!

Also, are there any Oblivion fans here that can make mods? Wouldn't that be great to see some CB stuff appear in Oblivion.. the greatest cross-over ever! :)

ThatOneMan August 23 2006 9:28 PM EDT

Sorry about that....General Warning: This Thread May Contain Spoilers :)

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] August 23 2006 10:19 PM EDT

I started playing not too long ago, went with a battlemage, and so far I'm not having too much trouble :D

AdminShade August 24 2006 7:49 AM EDT

4. you shouldn't say your sorry, I think...

for me this went quite well even with a disposition of only 70. He just came along with me to get rid of the curse...

ThatOneMan August 24 2006 9:14 AM EDT

hmm...that was the guide said he should do...didnt mention anything bout if he didnt come lol

AdminShade August 24 2006 11:22 AM EDT

Perhaps check this website it has a better guide imo.

ThatOneMan August 25 2006 1:08 PM EDT

the guide says: Head to Imperial City and ask around for Velwyn. People will tell you that he's staying at The King and Queen Tavern in the Elven District. Talk to Velwyn again and he'll agree to go back to Anvil to help you lift the curse.

i have talked to him again. he keeps saying sorry i cant help u lift the curse. you bought it its ur problem. Not exact words but thats basically wat keeps happening

AdminShade August 25 2006 1:09 PM EDT

Can't you carry on the conversation then? He told me that exact thing but after that he agreed to come with me somehow...

[MP]MoneyPig [SNB Forging Services] August 25 2006 4:52 PM EDT

Did you read that part of the guide?:

"Don't forget to bring along the piece of diary or when you meet up with Velywn he will not offer to come back with you."

AdminShade August 26 2006 8:39 AM EDT

Which is the piece of the diary that lies in the house... lol

ThatOneMan August 26 2006 11:33 AM EDT

hmm didnt remember reading that part...i went back to the house just to fight some ghosts and then i picked up the diary and went to talk to him again and it worked. lol. wow

ThatOneMan August 26 2006 11:35 AM EDT

wow....i had the game exactly one week now and i already have over 30 hours played and i am lvl 11. lol

ThatOneMan August 26 2006 11:37 AM EDT

im going to start playing obvilion less and carnage blender more now.

AdminShade August 26 2006 11:47 AM EDT

Hehehe, atm I am level 20 and have lots and lots of more hours played :)

ThatOneMan August 26 2006 1:16 PM EDT

just wondering if u have found any Glass or elven weapons since ur lvl 20. i found a necromancer that had a elven dagger but thats the only elven weapon i have seen. My weapon is a dwarfven (something close to that) 1 handed longsword that does 11 dmg. its pretty good i guess cause its the highest dmg weapon i found

AdminShade August 26 2006 1:29 PM EDT

I have found various glass and elven weapons throughout my level 13 to 20. Among them even Long Swords and Short Swords as well as Maces and Axes.

The Dwarven Long Sword you speak of is reasonably good indeed, though you will want to have a Glass one soon ;)

I also have recently acquired some parts of Elven and Glass armor, which imo look awesome. I also have found Ebony armor and weapons, though I don't use them due to their weight.

ThatOneMan August 28 2006 10:39 AM EDT

sweet...im on the last mission for the mage guild then i will be the leader or watever. I have to go to the necromancer hideout place and clear it and then fight the boss necromancer. its gonna be fun....lol

AdminShade August 28 2006 10:44 AM EDT

I haven't gotten that far with the mage guild yet :)

ThatOneMan August 30 2006 11:35 AM EDT

i have just did the azure shrine daedric quest where u have to kill 5 vampires. from killing the vampires i got:
A evlen warhammer 12dmg
A glass BattleAxe 12dmg
A Longsword of Weakness 14 dmg
a elven bow 4 dmg
Arrows that do 3 dmg and 6 fire dmg

Still go to do the finally mage guild quest.

hmm...im having problems getting fenced goods to move farther along in the thiefs guild. i need like 50 more items fenced and at night i always go to different shops and steal stuff but then some how when i exit a guard always stops me and i go to jail or pay off the guard. but then all the stuff i stole is no longer with me or at the store.

Hmm...i was looking at my factions im in and i noticed im in some i dont kno. Im in the Knights of the White Stallion and the Blades. Is there a way you can get higher ranking in those factions or r they just ones ur in and ur always at that rank.

AdminShade August 30 2006 11:46 AM EDT

blades is part of the main quest, you will advance in it on your own presumedly.

the other faction is a minor guild in which you don't have much progress i think.

about the fencing, try to drop all the items before you meet a guard or try stealing in a house in which nobody is present and immediately go to your fence. :)

ThatOneMan August 30 2006 4:04 PM EDT

Ok i need a TON of help. i tried everything i can think of to get this to work but it just wont. Ok im doing the last quest for the mage guild Confront the King. Ok so the quest thing says must find echo cave and get in. i do that and then it updates saying u find the leaders layer now find him and put a end to him. Ok so i find him, the quest thing doesnt update. So i walk up to him and hit him. i do no dmg and the health thing doesnt show up. so i try to use some magic on him. the spells go right through him. so then i went up and talked to him. so after that he started attacking me but his hits didnt do any damage to me and his spells went through me.

i then read the part of the guide (pasting below shortly) that says i need to find him and he will be in a conversation and it says to cast this etheral spell then realize it cause it dont work then go hit him. 2 problems with that
1. I have no etheral spell
2. He isnt talking to anyone he is alone and when i talk to him u cant interupt and attack.

hes the guide i read this from. i put *** where i need some help at.

<~~~~~~ CONFRONT THE KING ~~~~~~>

Time to put an end to the King of Worms. Traven kills himself, putting his
soul in the Colossal Black Soul Gem you just took from Falcar. Take the gem
and journey to Echo Cavern, which is west of Cloud Ruler Temple. At the door,
you'll be confronted by Bolor Savel, who gleefully informs you he has the only
key for the door. Introduce him to the folly of guarding a door from you, take
his key and enter the cave.

The top two levels of the cave are standard necromancer-infested lairs. You've
seen a lot of these by now. When you reach the bottom, you've found
Mannimarco, King of Worms. Fortunately for you, Mannimarco is a bit
overconfident. Seems he intends to turn you into a Worm Thrall; but, the
special black soul gem prevents that from working.

***Don't give Mannimarco time to finish his conversation, cast his Enthrall spell
and then realize it doesn't work. Walk up to him during his speech and hit
him...hit him hard. Keep him off-balance and staggered and the fight should be
easy. If you let him get off a few spells, you could be in trouble. Once he's
dead, loot the place, then return to Arcane University.

ThatOneMan August 30 2006 6:17 PM EDT

Ok i found another sight :(.....heres wat it told me
i added *** again to the main part
The Quest
This task doesn't start off like any of the others Traven has given you. He promotes you to Arch-Mage, leader of the Mages Guild, and then soul traps himself into the Colossal Black Soul Gem. The purpose of this is to allow you to confront the King of Worms without letting him turn you into a Worm Thrall. Somehow the filled Black Soul Gem prevents this.
Take the soul gem from Traven's corpse (the quest won't automatically give it to you) and head to Echo Cave far North of the Imperial City, just West of Bruma in the mountains bordering Hammerfell.
At the entrance to the Cave you'll be greeted by a necromancer, Bolor Savel, who says he has the key to the Cave and promises to protect it with his life... assist him to fulfill his promise.
Make your way through the caverns, you'll encounter quite a few necromancers. The cave is fairly linear, just follow the compass.
Mannimarco, the King of Worms, can be found in the large room in the Necromancer Chamber area. An event will occur in which finger-bone style railing pop up surrounding the island you're on and Mannicarco 'paralyzes' you and approaches to talk. Chat with him for a while. Eventually he'll try to turn you into a Worm Thrall. When that doesn't work he'll just attack you. Kill him by any preferred means.
Return to the University and speak with Raminus with the news of Mannimarco's death.
**** [edit]Glitches
Mannimarco cannot be hit until you have triggered his speech (so no stealth kills by poisoned blade or arrow). Unfortunately, a bug frequently occurs (still present as of PC version 1.1.511) that means he still cannot be hit afterward. Some workarounds:

****If Mannimarco proves to be unhittable (it is a common bug), reload an old save or use this fix.
On the XBOX 360 version (with the update) this bug is still prevalent and no amount of re-loading will fix it. The only workable solution I have found is to engage Mannimarco in dialog and then when he starts attacking you, run to the edge along the water and push him into it. Jump in after him, ensure that you enable whatever you have to help breath underwater (ie: a spell, enchanted item, etc.: there is even actually something like a "helm of breathe underwater" in a chest in the water passages) and then head him off in the under water tunnel used to get back onto the raised area. In the tunnel block all his attacks until he drowns as he can't go up for more air. You will then get confirmation that you have killed him and you can finally progress with the game.
*****Mannimarco is unhittable, but not immune to damage (see the drowning option above). He can still cause damage to you, which means Damage and/or Spell Reflection will still cause damage to him. He has (at least, for me he had) no healing spells, no healing potions, and not enough sense to stop attacking before he kills himself by reflected damage; just keep yourself healed while you wait. (Spell Reflection is usually a lot quicker, since he's a mage.)
While I got the appropriate quest message for having killed Mannimarco when he died this way, the bone claws remained raised; however, I was able (Acrobatics 60, Agility 130; it could probably be done with lower scores, though) to jump over a low one, leave the cave and return to the Arcane University in triumph.
there is the rare case that it is possible to run up to him and kill him straight away, before he has the chance to paralyze you, as was the case for me. I used the Sufferthorn dagger for its +15 damage boost.

1. wow that is horrible...they need to fix that...Well anyways i tried the water tunnel one and couldnt get it.
So im gonna try the Spell reflection way. Where can i get something that does Spell reflection tho.

Here is a great collection of mods for Oblivion.

AdminShade August 31 2006 7:58 AM EDT

Here is another explanation for the quest you seek advice on.

Flamey August 31 2006 8:00 AM EDT

is that "here" supposed to be a link?

it only flashes when you hover over it.. :S

AdminShade August 31 2006 9:47 AM EDT

made a typo, it's a link now (if you looked at the source code you would have seen my mistake ^_^ )

ThatOneMan August 31 2006 11:47 AM EDT

that guide just says to kill him. its glitched cause i cant do any damage to him. so i guess i should go try to get a spell reflection/dmg reflection thing and see if i can win that way.

Miandrital August 31 2006 11:49 AM EDT

Do I really need the all the required computer specs for the game or can I play it with less?

Goodfish August 31 2006 11:51 AM EDT

Well, Mian... our computer has MORE than the base requirements, and it's still a bit laggy. I wouldn't advise it in the least.

ThatOneMan August 31 2006 11:53 AM EDT

i knew my computer wouldnt be able to use it....thats y i got it on the 360

ThatOneMan August 31 2006 12:02 PM EDT

sweet...im a expert achelimist...

AdminShade August 31 2006 1:21 PM EDT

Mian: i have less than the requirements and I can run it quite ok.

you just have to tweak for optimized playing speed :)

AdminQBVerifex August 31 2006 3:37 PM EDT

My current setup: Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8Ghz, 1Gb Mem, Nvidia Geforce 6800. I have to turn it down a little to play it as the game can really crawl if you have all the settings maxed in some places.

AdminShade August 31 2006 3:39 PM EDT

I have an even less system and indeed I have turned off quite some things, nonetheless it looks awesome even without maximum detail :)

ThatOneMan August 31 2006 4:13 PM EDT

Finally....i am the Arch Mage. I rule the Mage Guild now. Wow that last quest took forever. My game was glitched so i couldnt do damage to him so i took along some spell reflection and damage reflection spells so i could win. Well he didnt use any spells at all. So he hit me so many times he broke is silver dagger so then he dropped it and started hitting me with his fists and he did like no damage so then with the damage reflection it was 11% the dmg done to me returned to him so with him using his hands it took like 20 minutes before i won.

Now im doing a daedric quest but i need to find a black soul gem. i thought i had one from before but i cant find it.

Hmm....if i have a house key to someones house and that person his died and i store weapons and armor in a chest or cabinet do they go away after a while. I was storing all my stuff i didnt use at the time and then when i went back to get my stuff it was all gone and replaced by the stuff that was orinigal in the chest and cabient.

ThatOneMan September 1 2006 12:09 PM EDT

sweet action....i just got the black stone that i made at dark fissure and then i did the daedric quest. the reward for the quest wasnt worth anything but doing the quest was. i got full ebony armor now. the full set. its awesome. its the best armor i found in the game so far. im lvl 15 now.

I have been playing CB more and dividing my time between the 2 better. :)

AdminShade September 1 2006 12:13 PM EDT

You can only store items in your own bought house's chests...

I'm level 30 now, have over 80k gold and have stored a full Daedric armor and have full Glass except for the helm piece.

I am the Grand Champion at the Arena and I seem to have explored so much that my head spins at the map :D

ThatOneMan September 1 2006 12:26 PM EDT

lol
im grand champion and arch mage. other factions low position.
I havent really explored at all. I just go to where i need to go to do quests. i should start explorering some.
I Been doing daedric quests and trying to find shines then after that ill explorer the world.

ThatOneMan September 2 2006 3:17 PM EDT

wow im stuck again on a quest (spent bout 2 hours so far trying to figure out what to do now) . its for the thief guild called Arrow of something. i have to go to the castle and then i find this guys room and in his room there is secret passage. i got into the secret passage then found where im spose to go but where im spose to go there is a door that is locked and requires a key. i killed everyone in the passage looking for the key but never found it. i coved every place i can see when i look at the map cept for behind that door where im spose to go.

Has anyone got that far in the thiefs guild? its a quest i got from the gray fox himself.

Genie September 2 2006 11:21 PM EDT

Is Oblivion a lot harder to level up? (hopes it is)

ThatOneMan September 2 2006 11:53 PM EDT

depends....if u really want to lvl make everything u use all the time as major skills then its easy. if u want to level when u want to level choose ur major skills to be skills u will use when u want to lvl.

Genie September 3 2006 1:14 AM EDT

I want to have skills i need to play rather than skills i want to use to run around and kill things. That brings up another question: anyone know how many more monsters there are in Oblivion, and are any the same as morrowind?

AdminShade September 3 2006 7:16 AM EDT

There are quite similar monsters in Oblivion as there were in Morrowind, but they are more challenging.

There are a few new monsters I believe but I don't know exactly which ones.

If you want to make leveling up harder or better to be controlled, pick a class with which the skills you won't use much are your primary skills.
