I looked through the wiki as well as read the whole protection thread, but I am still unsure as to what kind of damage it reduces. Does protection flat out reduce ALL damage you take (including GA or AMF), or just direct damage you take (physical or magical)?
Again sorry if it was answered in the thread but I didn't see it anywhere, or at least didn't understand the information as it was presented >_<

ALL damage, with the exception of AMF.

From what I've seen on my own character it looks like it reduces direct damage - although I would count GA as direct damage...- and it also looks like the level of the spell equates to the percentage of damage reduced.
Above about (30) it gets too expensive to take it much higher. From about (30) to (35) requires nearly 4 million in level.........

All damage except AMF_and_Decay I think, although correct me if that's wrong.
Correct, Decay bypasses protection.
Ok, thank you for the help. I was hoping it reduced GA .
I think I *finally* have my NCB worked out, after about 1 million changes lol :D

Personally, I don't suggest training Protection on your NCB until it gets to a higher MPR - otherwise, you have a weak protection that does little for your battles using up valuable EXP. Wait until you can spare about 200k stat points and then start training it up. That'll be the most effective way if you are going to use it on your NCB.
(IMO)
Well, thats what I kind of meant. My fourth minion is going to be training a lot of HP and a bit of EC to start and being stuck in the very back. Then I will be switching the HP to protection when my MPR is higher and my strat should be working a bit better.
It would seem to be HP is way more important at lower PR then protection, but eventually that flips around.

What will your 4th minion do then with just HP and EC?
please do remember than minions which don't attack will cause stalemates or losses.
Soak up damage from things like MM. My tank will be wearing an AoI, so he won't start getting hit until the three enchanters are dead. My tank is going to be the only damage dealer, along with a bit of GA.
