College Football (in Off-topic)

ThatOneMan September 2 2006 10:38 AM EDT

The College Football kicks off full force today. Post your favorite college teams and how you think they will do. Also you can talk about a game to.

Well, im from Michigan so i like Michigan Wolverines. I hate Michigan state. I dont think Michigan is going to do all that good this year. They lost there good recviers over the past couple of years (Edwards and Avant). There only reciever they have still that i kno is Breston. Even tho there ranked 14th starting this season i dont think they will end early. They have a bad schedule....at number 2 norte dame week 3 and at number 1 Ohio state week 12

Don't forget about Penn St., Iowa, and Wisconsin. And then there's always the heated rivalry with Michigan St. As much as Go Blue fans hate Sparty, it's always a good damn game.

I'm also from Michigan, so I'm a Go Blue fan, but I like Sparty as well. I root for both teams, and when they play each other I root for whoever's having the better season. And with that tough U of M schedule that just might be State...

It should be an all-around interesting season of college football though. I mean, any season where West Virginia is a favorite for the BCS Championship Game is bound to be one that has lots of unknowns. What I wonder is can Texas really be a threat without Vince Young? They're playing a two QB system and they really expect that to even out? I don't know about that...

ThatOneMan September 2 2006 12:59 PM EDT

im also wondering how USC will manage to score. They lost there starting QB (who hurt his shoulder in NFL pre season) Matt Leinhert and they also lost there starting running back Reggie Bush and back up running back Londal White.

ThatOneMan September 2 2006 1:04 PM EDT

Also its going to be interesting to see how the refs do. They made so many horrible calls last year (espically during the Michigan vs Nebraska game)

So far they made some bad calls. Espically in the Michigan game. It was 3rd down and they through it to Manningham who caught it in the year and landed and took to steps (making it a complete pass) then was hit tho while landing and taking those two steps and after the 2 steps the ball flew out of bounds at the 1. The refs put the ball at the 1. They actually go it right but then Vnaderbealt challeneged it. The reply clearly showed it was complete pass and then a fumble so Michigan ball at the 1 yard line. But the review people said it was incomplete pass and Michigan had to settle for a FG.

QBOddBird September 3 2006 4:53 PM EDT

Go Florida Gators/Auburn Tigers. My two teams! =D

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] September 3 2006 4:54 PM EDT

Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top, dirt's too rocky by far
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top get their corn from a jar

Go, Vols!

PirateKing September 3 2006 4:56 PM EDT

BMWheatley and Josh.... Due to my being Garnet and Gold to the core, I am now obligated to hate you both. :P

Go Noles!

Silatt September 4 2006 9:56 AM EDT

Woot - Alabama Elephants. Go Trunks!

ThatOneMan September 4 2006 10:21 AM EDT

Florida State vs Miami tonight. ranked 11 vs ranked 12

ThatOneMan September 5 2006 5:57 PM EDT

wow....that was a boring game if u asked me. Florida state won by 3.

ThatOneMan September 5 2006 5:58 PM EDT

this weekends biggest game: Number One Ohio State vs Number 3 Texas

Miandrital September 5 2006 6:37 PM EDT

"Number One Ohio State vs Number 3 Texas"

ahem, Number 2 Texas (I go to UT, Hook 'Em Horns)

ThatOneMan September 5 2006 7:19 PM EDT

sweet....
i thought Norte Dame was 3 (at least they were entering season) and they won there game so i figured Texas stayed number 3.
R u gonna go to that game?

Mem September 5 2006 10:55 PM EDT

"i thought Norte Dame was 3 (at least they were entering season) and they won there game so i figured Texas stayed number 3."

Let's evaluate that statement...

1 Ohio State, 2 Texas, 3 Notre Dame.

Miandrital September 5 2006 11:22 PM EDT

Cant go, too hard to get tickets. Oh well :(

ThatOneMan September 6 2006 2:40 PM EDT

wow....im smart

Mem September 6 2006 10:17 PM EDT

Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure you were just typing too fast...

ThatOneMan September 9 2006 10:43 AM EDT

#1 Ohio State vs #2 Texas
its gonna be a really good game. Go Texas. i want Ohio State to lose because there in the Big Ten and so is Michigan.

Michigan should have one of the easiest games today facing Central Michigan.

Mem September 9 2006 6:53 PM EDT

All the more reason to vote for Ohio State... You know, so that when Michigan beats #1 Ohio State they're the new #1!

ThatOneMan September 14 2006 9:28 PM EDT

Michigan at South Bend facing Norte Dame Saturday....this is gonna be a huge sweet game

QBRanger September 14 2006 10:06 PM EDT

The SEC is the best football, has been for a while.

5 teams in the top 13.

4 play each other Saturday, led by the FLORIDA GATORS!

Mem September 14 2006 10:16 PM EDT

While I happen to be a Gator fan, I might have to disagree that the SEC is the top conference in college football this year. When U of M wins on Saturday we'll all bow down to the Big Ten for the first time in a while.

ThatOneMan September 17 2006 8:20 AM EDT

Hail to the Victories....

Michigan flat out ran over number 2 norte dame. 47-21. Go Michigan.

QBRanger September 17 2006 8:23 AM EDT

Either Michigan is that good or ND is overrated.

I choose the latter. Especially after the narrow escape they had at Ga Tech.

Go GATORS!!!!!!

ThatOneMan September 17 2006 8:28 AM EDT

Gator came out with a win in a close one.

Florida State and Miami (Fl) both lost so it seems that Florida Gator are the top team in Florida.

PirateKing September 17 2006 8:36 AM EDT

Bah. I'll cheer for the USF Bulls before I bow down to the orange and blue. :(

ThatOneMan September 17 2006 8:38 AM EDT

i wonder what michigan will be ranked. Number 11 beating Number 2. Also some other top ten teams lost like LSU who was number 6 lost to number 3 Auburn

Bartman September 17 2006 10:19 AM EDT

Go Trojans!!!! USC ran through Nebraska 28-10! Look for them to move back into the #2 spot with eyes on the #1 position. Look for them to blow out Arizona next week.

QBOddBird September 17 2006 10:30 AM EDT

Yeeeah! Again both of my teams win, Auburn/Florida =)

Mem September 17 2006 10:36 AM EDT

How can you root for two SEC teams? That's blasphemy.

I look for Go Blue to reach the 5th spot, possibly the 6th spot if they're unlucky. At any rate, that was just the first tough game. Now starts that daunting Big Ten schedule, culminating with the always tough OSU game. It's a good thing that Michigan D is tenacious...

QBOddBird September 17 2006 1:20 PM EDT

*shrugs* That's actually really common where I live, right on the state line between AL and FL. =)

ThatOneMan September 17 2006 7:59 PM EDT

Michigan is ranked 6th :(....should be 5th i think.

How can u like the Trojans? i hate the Trojans.

Ohio State is going be a good game vs Michigan.

Norte Dame is facing State this coming Saturday.

After that game with Norte Dame, State gets to come to the Big House.

Bartman September 17 2006 8:11 PM EDT

Being from Southern California, how can i not? Working on my masters at USC certainly helps a bit as well.

ThatOneMan September 17 2006 8:25 PM EDT

ok i can see if u live there then yes u can like them. did u know Matt leinhert or reggie bush

ThatOneMan September 17 2006 8:50 PM EDT

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!!!! my family really really loves me. My whole familey went in and bought me Michigan tickets to see Michigan State vs Michigan at the Big House the week after my 16th birthday.

Caedmon [Revenge of the Forgers] September 17 2006 8:52 PM EDT

Have fun. I had season tickets for two years back in the 90s and loved every minute.

Not to come off as a complete homer, but OSU beat on Texas in Austin, while UM beat on ND in South Bend. OSU gets 56 first place votes, and Carr's boys gets none? What's up with that? :P

ThatOneMan September 17 2006 9:49 PM EDT

i agree :)

ThatOneMan September 22 2006 4:34 PM EDT

Wisconsin vs #6 Michigan tomorrow. Its the Big Ten opener. Michigan lost to them last year but i think they should win this year
