Spice things up! (in General)

Right now slings and staff slings are the dregs of the ranged damage world. I dont think this is fair and just. After all, David didnt use a bow or a crossbow did he? How can things be spiced up with out going overboard (read: SoD)?
-Change explosive shot to truly be explosive. So in ranged the ex. shot does damage to the other minions a la the aura effects of tattoos. Meaning, the damage is less than the damage the ammo does to the minion it is hitting.
-Increase the base damage for slings and staff slings to 2 and 3, respectively.
-If the above is no good, then add another type of sling that does slightly increased damage over the other two.
-Im not sure if it is already like this or not, but treat slings like a one handed weapon with respect to the 'inherent' pth. Treat bows and xbows like 2-handed weapons.
Just some thoughts, dont flame me.
If I remember right they had crossbows that shot shot and before they invented guns they had explosive tipped bolts probably hardly ever used. Like slings in war cause they are a kids weapon unless you want to count the trebuchet and their like but I imagine lobbing a dead cow would be considered uncouth. Hope this isn't considered flaming.
Slings had longer range than the Bows of the period.
Plus thier ammo could be found almost anywhere. Sucks to run out of arrows. ;)

Make pebbles fire more often and make pebbles free. That would make a nice balance I think.

Perhaps well get the Sling of David now as a new supporter items.
Only this seeker item will seek no matter if you have a AOI on or not. The damage will be less than an elb with seekers. It will be the only seeker weapon to do so, thereby making a nice choice of items to use in missile.
Nice! :D
Also, I think explosive ammo for slings should hit multiple targets. :) Give a 'spread' attack to physical damage.

Great ideas all around, no flame-age from me!

"Sling Of David" - the only thing I really miss from the game side of CB1
the SoD was a silly broken item, I welcome it to the shores of silly broken itemania
Anybody ever used a sling and a bow?Slings are a lot harder to be accurate with, is that reflected in the way the slings work here? You need a lot more room to use also. So personally I think they are about right the way they are.

I disagree, I've used both. Slings are *NOT* harder to be accurate with.

What if a staff sling used pebbles in ranged and was used as a staff in melee (with a different base value used for melee...say something in the neighborhood of a Tulwar :o) ...any X you add would apply to both ranged and melee rounds. This would make it a decent weapon for starting characters.

I like deifeln's idea! =)
How about more Ranged weapons? We have lots of Melee, to give players a feeling of achieving something moving up through them, so how about more ranged ones? Including Ranged/Melee hybrid weapons.
Some ideas would be thrown weapons. Daggers, Javalins, Spears, etc. These could be used in both Ranged and Melee.

GL, would these be stackable items, like ammo? or do you pick up your dagger and throw it every round? ;)
Stackable like ammo, but you don't use up any in Melee. ;)
Boomerangs with one end sharp so you can use like a hatchet.
A blow gun with poisoned darts. Start with small damage but gets a little worse each turn. Once you hit a bit higher level the damage isn't enough to kill and you have to get a better weapon.Ah probably been put forward before.
