Remembering 9/11 (in Off-topic)

I'm sure we all remember where we were this day 5 years ago. I was in France at the time. My thoughts go out to everyone especially people who lost loved ones but I'm sure we have all been touched in some way by what happened 5 years ago. I hope this doesn't offend anyone so apologies if it does just wanted to say 'we have not forgotten'

There was a bomb threat (don't know if it was a true one) in Eindhoven today...

I was in the 20th floor of this building on Sept 11th 2001 in Seattle. Needless to say we all took the rest of the day off, and were scared as hell to come back the next day. Within a couple months our manager had moved us out of that building and onto the East Side (Bellevue). So, yeah, that Sept. 11th thing did affect me quite a bit.

In short for the non Dutch people: a man entered the train station and bought a ticket for an airplane, then went into a bus and left some bags inside of it. After this the man left the bus from the backside and went into the train station. The bus driver alarmed and it became a big thing.

The man most likely has been filmed on the surveillance videos from the bus or the train station.

September 12th, 2001 was the date of my first ever flight in an airplane...

I was in the band/choir room at my high school here in Alabama. They made an announcement that the first tower had been hit, and everybody just started panicing. After the second tower was hit, we thought were going to be the next target, as Alabama has one of the largest caches of nuclear weapons and tanks. Very scary moment.

I had the radio on in my car, and I was just turning into the parking lot of the photo studio where I was working when Howard Stern started freaking out about the first plane hitting. I parked all crooked and went tearing in, shouting "turn on the TV! turn on the TV". We were all glued there the whole time, in shock.

The owner of the recording studio above us had brought down a rap musician from NYC that he was working with at the time to watch with us, and he (the musician) started panicking "OMG! OMG! I gotta get a flight - I got peeps there! I got peeps there!" I will never forget the look in his eyes of absolute helplessness, terror and panic as long as I live.

Immediately following it, the bottom completely fell out of the advertising business in the States for the next 8-10 months - businesses were too scared to spend any money in case something worse happened... By the following September, when business started to pick up again, it was too late for me - I had left photography behind for the job I have now...

I had just turned 11, and was in the 2nd week of school at 6th grade. It really freaked me out, being a not-so-well-informed 11 year old, because I knew that my dad worked in the city, and took the train/subway to NYC every day. Thankfully, he worked about 10 blocks away, and was in his office as he watched the whole thing unfold.

Myself, I was at home that morning...woke up to the sounds of the television blaring out that the first tower had been hit, and then as I stood there in front of the set I saw the second tower hit by the 2nd plane....I'll never forget just the shock/disbelief of that moment.

i was uh 9, and i was waking up to watch my cartoons, coz cartoons are cool, right? :P

and i turn on the TV and i'm like "what the hell is this??" on every free tv channel is the things of 9/11 going on.

and i was thinking "great, no cartoons for me"

mind you i was only 9 :)

I was in high school taking the IStep test when i heard about what happened very sad day

I was already at home, playing CB I guess. My sister got home and wanted to use the computer, so I left and went downstairs to watch TV. And yeah, that's where I saw it all. May you rest in peace, all who have died that day.

I watched it on a CNN feed on my PC whilst at work in France. One of those days never to forget.

As for the bomb threat in Eindhoven today, well I've been caught up in that and it contributed to my 8hr delay in Schipol Amsterdam. I spent 15hrs in airports today (not the best day to be in an airport) for a journey that should have only lasted 5hrs at most.

Many many people had 9/11 on their minds and I heard it mentioned on numerous occasions. I wonder how the world would have looked today (NY, Afghanistan, Iraq) if that hadn't happened. So very sad...

I was in Washington, DC working about 6 miles from the Pentagon (easily could have been at the Pentagon, just didn't have a reason to be on that given day). My heart goes out to all those who have lost love ones both in the initial days as well as all the days of conflict since.

I was like th00p, and I was 11 in 6th grade. I was in a school trip to a camp called Walden West somewhere in the Mountains near where I live.... And they told us what had happened and I didn't know what the twin towers were, nor what was going on. All I knew that I was in the middle of nowhere and nobody would even think of attacking us. xD

I was in high school orchestra, when my teacher came in sobbing. That was a day that I will not forget.

Was watching the news before the 2nd plane hit. Swear first words out my month were,"We need to invest in Lockhead". If only people would listen.

I was at home getting ready to report for duty, I was in the USAF, for the day. When the Pentagon got hit, my boss called and said to get into work ASAP. Well needless to say a few months later I was in the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. I have not forgotten...
