Axbow wonderings.. (in General)

I've just fought Shade's character. In the first round he targets one of my enchanters with his axbow, but doesn't kill him. In the next round of ranged he targets the next enchanter, leaving the first still standing. Now obviously the axbow has reset for a different round and picked a target with higher dex.

I'm presuming it's meant to work that way, with the seeking mechanism resetting and also overriding over battle concerns.

If that same axbow was to carry on through the battle, picking targets and not killing them, moving on to the next biggest dex and so on, would it just move round and round through them until it finally killed them? Meanwhile ignoring the AoI tank the whole time...

that sounds like what I've seen so far...

So, unless you're running a single tank, most tank teams (who face it are all wearing AoI's these days) are pretty much invulnerable to these things. Which leads me to wonder, why bother using them?

I know I'm sort of echoing Ranger here, but if they're not going to hit the tank at all they are just useless paperweights, no? A compound would be more use...

No it wouldn't do that.

If you have 2 minions with base DX (20) and a tank with AoI equipped then the Axbow would attack the first minion and then the next.

In the 3rd possible round, it would attack the first minion again because then all DX is set to be 0, and the targetting isn't working anymore, it would hit the first minion then always without any aiming for the next.

The AX bow is a penalty to the foolish, namely those wearing an AoM or AoAC...it also allows multi minion tank teams a shot at beating a single minion tank team, which was always it's intended purpose in my mind.
