Check out the poster for my short film! (in Off-topic)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We've finished the editing process completely now and are just waiting for the proper compression program so that we can put it on a DVD. Unfortunately, I won't be able to put it up on the web until it's made it's circuit at the film festivals, but if any of you would care to see it I'd be happy to mail a copy to you, provided you pay for postage. Well, wish us luck at the film festivals! :)

Mikel [Bring it] September 21 2006 12:25 AM EDT

best of luck :)
When will it arrive in the stores?

Mem September 21 2006 12:31 AM EDT

The only way it would make it into stores would be if it won a bunch of film festival prizes and we could package it together with some more shorts that we make, or even as a special feature on a full length project. You don't make short films to make money. You make them to give yourself a chance to make money making full length features.

It's got a early 60's look to me , hope there is no beatniks in it . Good luck Oops I mean break a leg.

Hi, Mem; I took the libterty of showing your film poster to my uncle who's in the film line sort of, and he said, if your indie stuff wants to go places then you need to look into distrubution; and if you contact any major studio, etc., be prepared for "distributor rape", meaning they simply rip you off on profits. Not very nice for newbies, but at least meantime you build up your resume.

Mem September 21 2006 8:29 AM EDT

Does that mean he liked it?

AdminQBVerifex September 21 2006 1:48 PM EDT

So, uh if it's any good, I want a copy. :)

Maelstrom September 21 2006 3:25 PM EDT

Hard to tell from the poster - can we get some screenshots? ;)

Is it as "good" as the movie Shade and his friends made? "Bier!" :P

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 21 2006 4:23 PM EDT

I might blur things here and there, for a "professional" look. But it looks really good, far less hokey than I would expect for a short film.

AdminShade September 21 2006 4:25 PM EDT

Hehehehe, Maelstrom, we are planning to make another short movie with a much much more sinister plot :)

Mem September 21 2006 6:00 PM EDT

Of course it's good, but I'm not sure how "good" Shade's short was since I never saw it. As far as screenshots go, I don't have a copy for myself just yet and I have no idea how to capture a screenshot of a DVD... Perhaps on Monday, when I get my copy, someone can teach me how to do that.

Maelstrom September 21 2006 6:11 PM EDT

Mem: Most software DVD players have an option to take a screenshot. Maybe Shade can point us to his old thread. It was a movie where they were drinking beer in some weird hotel... and then they ran out!

Shade, I don't think there's anything more sinister than running out of beer - good luck! ;)

AdminShade September 21 2006 6:13 PM EDT

Just visit this website.

Mem September 21 2006 7:25 PM EDT

I'm not sure why you made a short about a bunch of drunk, naked European men, Shade... It was nicely edited for the most part though. I have to admit the story didn't really captivate me...

A little hint for you if you continue making these things-- invest in a tripod. A short that's all handheld, or even mostly gives off the impression that the filmmakers were amateurs.

Hi, Mem, I asked my uncle his opinion of the poster again, and he feels it is quite a promising effort at film noir; and I bet it sure is slick n professional, best wishes for the circuit :)

Xiaz on Hiatus September 22 2006 5:35 AM EDT

Looks very Dick Tracy-like, from that poster.

Director of photography: nice! I'd be very interested in obtaining a copy - provided I could pay you in $CB. Would that be okay?
