evasion (in Changelog)

Max bonus to evasion during ranged is now 3x (was 4x, briefly). Bonus is reduced to 7/3 and 5/3 in rounds 2 and 3, and of course back to normal in melee.

It still is a problem for me, I can't hit 'Heat' (single FB mage) even with a 780k ToA, +80 ELB, +33 ammo (approx +100 pth) and my hugely larger DX.....

...I also have archery trained to 1.00 so he is effectively nerfing at least 180 pth plus whatever my ToA gives. :S

Yeah i only manage to hit Heat in one round of melee which is with a BoNE (+101).

He is also using DB and AoI.

So don't just blame the 180 pth reduction on Evasion. :P

from the numbers you gave, how can you have 180 PTH then added PTH from the ToA, when you arrows and bow have about 100?

Flamey: Ammo + is about 3x as effective as bow +. Therefore, he has roughly +100 alone in ammo. Adding the bow's PTH gives roughly +180 before adding whatever PTH he gets from his ToA.

I feel your pain, Ambidex. I almost always miss against heat first and second round, seldom hit on the third round, spend a round switching to melee, and start damaging him starting the 5th round. I have 1.25M DX (he has 20 excluding the Evasion part), and have roughly +195 PTH (while he has, I'm guessing, 100 Evasion and +80 or so DB).

This scenario makes my 1.8M MPR and $210M NW almost worthless to his 1M MPR and $38M NW, where he draws every now and then, but comes damn-near close to killing me (and sometimes does every now and then). Evasion is truly brutal. :) Now I only wish I could train Archery and Evasion on the same minion...

How evasion stacks has become vastly more important now and testing is still difficult to do with the randomness involved. I'd like to see the background numbers, just to understand how the multiplier works when someone has an AoI or dbs.

As I remember evasion and DB's do not stack linearly but via the xp method like having 2 AMFs.

Indeed. But this changemonth made it a bit more complex, as DB's (and other items?) Evasion doesn't get the ranged boost.

DB and other reducing PTH items stack poorly with evasion.

the known example that i know.

"Evasion granted does not stack linearly with the Evasion Skill; instead of Evasion 30 + DB 30 = 60, it stacks the way enchantments do: in this example, the total would be 39."

imo, better off with EB to boost the evasion, DB are only for non-evasion minions.

Well there goes my mini-tank strat. Many mages now are using evasion - and with very little invested, it seems, are able to make ELB bows and sometimes melee weapons useless. (One day I could beat Heat and the next he was untouchable - and almost invincible it seems). I hope this gets altered at some point. Do you see the fall of ELB and other bow prices? I am discouraged with the huge changes this last month because my investments dropped - it seems like the stock market fell. I can't imagine what the larger players must feel - maybe they are used to such changes. It was exciting though, especially during free retraining.
If only my tank/mini tank could aim at the weaker enchanter minions first... or hit for less damage would be ok -- any hit at all would be nice -- something!
Does anyone else find they can hit in ranged round 1 and not in rounds 2-3 ? Is this a glitch?

First, after Jon made all those changes, he gave us a week of free untraining to get used to them. Most of us made use of it.

Second, the reason you keep missing in ranged is that you don't have archery trained. Did you miss the change to archery, too?

I tried archery during the free retraining time - but it missed just as often - even when trained to 1.0. I guess I should have bought mage gear and tried that to but I couldn't afford it. Actually I did try some mage stuff but without the gear it wasn't very effective and now more people have trained evasion than then. At least at this level.
