Mithril Curiass a lost cause? (in General)

With the introduction of the TSA which serves as decent non-ToA tank armor (also reducing DD). And also the AC which has 5 more base AC and a cheaper upgrade curve. Is it even worth it to equip this MC anymore?

QBRanger September 24 2006 5:50 PM EDT

no

TheEverblacksky September 24 2006 5:55 PM EDT

mind elaborating?

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 24 2006 5:59 PM EDT

The MC is maybe a good alternative for the Adam.
The MC is good for a medium sided wall which doesn't like the huge penalties of the adam.
But for a tank, the MC outlived its usefulness. Ahh i could remember my string bikini back in cb 1 so much protection for such a small area

Miandrital September 24 2006 6:35 PM EDT

IMO, MC is only good for CoC mages who want to use heavier AC. I believe NSFY hit 227 AC with his CoC mage.

QBRanger September 24 2006 6:42 PM EDT

A MCM and Kite Shield gives just as good protection for mages with far far less penalties.

AdminNightStrike September 24 2006 7:29 PM EDT

A mage with a shield.... Gary Gygax must be having a coniption right about now...

QBsutekh137 September 24 2006 10:16 PM EDT

Like all things in "the middle" the MC seems...uneventful. This is a game of concentrations. But for a balanced team that just wants something decent, the MC works quite well.

QBOddBird September 25 2006 12:01 AM EDT

*shrugs* Great for someone wanting to go WallTank. That's a lot more AC than a TSA offers.

Karmic Mishap [Soup Ream] September 25 2006 12:58 PM EDT

Adams are dirt cheap nowadays though. I agree, MC is now almost completely useless. I think Miandrital was probably correct in pointing out that mages can use it, but Ranger was also correct in stating that MCM is a far better choice. MC is only decent the way a compound bow is: maybe useful for somebody starting out, but not much place for it elsewhere.

Caedmon [Revenge of the Forgers] September 25 2006 2:05 PM EDT

I will agree with Ranger's claim that an MCM + Kite shield has slightly lower penalties than an MC, and can potentially get similar AC. All I know, though, is that I spent less than 1 million for 92 AC (MC +57), and can't imagine getting that kind of AC for twice that amount of cash any other way.

Karmic Mishap [Soup Ream] September 26 2006 3:32 AM EDT

Easy, just get an adam, a large one shouldn't run you more than two million. The prices of both pieces of equipment are low, low, low.

QBJohnnywas September 26 2006 3:34 AM EDT

If anybody doesn't want their MCs, then send them to me care of my character The Clash. I'll look after them well.

Thank you.

But seriously, if you need ac on a char they are perfect. You don't have to have an Adam.
