Why not change Ranged and Melee completely as how we know it now? (in General)

How about we change ranged and melee completely?

now:

3 fixed rounds of ranged, rest of rounds are melee.

My idea:

whenever a minion has a minion in front of it, after the 3 normal ranged rounds, this minion continues to shoot with ranged weapons without any melee round penalties.

When that minion has no minion in front of it, then that minion will use the melee weapon if equipped, or use the ranged weapon with the penalties as they are now.

Fine by me, as long as I still get my evasion multipliers against those attacks. *smile* I'd love for all rounds to be ranged with multipliers!

It sounds really simple. I dunno if Jon will dig it. Seeing something like that though would never work out right though. When would you decide that a fireball mage would be close enough to cause "collateral damage"? When does a COC mage start shooting? Those are the questions that would have to be brought up in this case.

:D Shade, want me to dig out my old post where I suggested the ranged and melee disctintion be scrapped, and the range of attacks were based on the weapon/spell you had equipped?

I must admit, when I first started playing I couldn't understand why the first 2 minions weren't the 'front rank', and the other 2 were the back, ranged row.
Still don't tbh :-)

>_< Can't find it. I'll think about this in more detail (I'll write sometihng up at work...) but n addition to VC's suggestion, mine went something like;

Equipping a Ranged weapon or using FB/MM classed you as at range.

Equipping a melee wepaon, using UC or using CoC/Decay classed you at melee.

Having no weapon or trained attack, classed you as unarmed.

Then there was a relation as to how the three different types used pth, dex based attacks and evasion versus each other.

I've also thought about improving Shields versus ranged attacks.
