Official QB Quarter 3, 2006 Nominees With Q&A Responses (in Contests)

In the same manner I always have - I try to be polite, friendly and courteous, helpful when I'm confident that my answer or suggestion would actually be helpful, and I endeavor to try to provide just a little bit extra entertainment when I can... I don't imagine there'd be much of a change if I got the red letters.

Name recognition. Oh, now I've done it, I've gone and given a lame answer to my own QB question suggestion...

I still shouldn't, and for 2 reasons. Actually, no one should until after Sefton has been made QB first. I nominated him in the hopes that the voting would be unanimous - that we would see 100% next to Sefton's name in the poll, and 0% next to the rest of us. Besides, realizing that this is my 4th QB nomination in a row, I've decided that I want to be the Susan Lucci of QBs - I would only have 14 more losses to go after this one. (For those of you who don't know the story, Susan Lucci is an American soap opera actress who was nominated for a "Best Actress Emmy" 19 years in a row, and lost the first 18 times...)

Sefton. See above. He should have been QB 4 or 5 quarters ago.

I just try to contribute a tiny bit extra entertainment, above and beyond everything that CB already is. Just a little something to hopefully make players think "hey, this place really is more then just a simple game -I think I'll come back tomorrow and see what happens next"...

I've been referred to as the proverbial "bull in a china shop" - it's not that I'm clumsy or purposefully destructive, it's just that I tend to think of myself as much smaller and weaker than I actually am, so I choose Mr. Strong, because of this description:

Mr Strong is so strong that you can barely believe it. He is the nearest thing to a super hero in Mr Man land. He gets all his strength from eating hundred of eggs!

His strength sometimes gets him in trouble, and he regularly breaks everything he touches by accident. But sometimes it helps save the day, especially if there is something really heavy that needs carrying.

(And eggs are my favorite food item above all others, too :P)

Through my sense of humor, my personality, friendliness, and helpfulness. I have a very unique personality that is definitely recognizable from others in the community, one that hopefully is welcoming to new players and helps those who have been here longer to feel right at home in Chat and Forums. I try very hard to be friendly in chat, welcoming new players into Carnage Blender, saying hello to everyone I see and keeping a good, steady conversation going in Chat at all times. I also try to be very helpful - both to further those in the community and help them along, and for the selfish reason that I like to talk strat. ~_^ Basically, I wouldn't really change much.

I partially know the answer to this one: I was nominated because I am thought of as a leader within the community. This one's easier to answer because the person (one of the people? How can I know?) who so kindly nominated me answered, upon request, this question for me. (I can't help it, I was curious, why me?) I also think a large portion of it had to do with my personality - I'm a very unique and identifiable individual within the community.

There's no way I can correctly answer this question when it says 'instead of'. Fact is, I shouldn't be nominated in the place of any of the other nominees, as they all deserve the QB title. I think the one quality that might give me QB qualification is this, however: I think I represent the community well. Friendly, outgoing, not too terribly modest *grins*, helpful...I do try to be these and more. More easily, however, I can give you one reason why not right now: I use way too many parentheses. But I find them so necessary!

Just one?? This is definitely the most difficult question. I nominated BarzooMonkey, for his participation in Forums, his helpfulness, and his amazing generosity that he displays through his many contests.

However, Slayer also deserves it so much for his largely unrecognized time he devotes in New Players chat and his helpfulness to the new players; Sefton, for the helpfulness he's shown in the past in Chat, his activity in forums, and his availability to anyone who wants to talk to him.

Similiarly, the other nominees deserve this title as well. It is very difficult to choose just one....but I suppose if I have to choose, it'd be BarzooMonkey.

Unfortunately, I cannot contribute in the amazing way that some of our other players do...Dolphin, Verifex, and Pixel Sage, just to mention a few....but I do try to contribute through hosting various Contests, explaining how things work to curious players (on the rare occasion that I truly do know what I'm talking about!), helping to keep Chat clean/enjoyable, and helping others along with their strategies. That, and CB needs a ladies' man. ;) ;)

Mr Fantastic! Those super stretchy arms....imagine what I could do with those!

But no, seriously, probably Mr. Tickle. I love to laugh, I'm very sociable, and I'm quite ticklish. But I'm an excellent tickler, too. Not just some vulnerable tickle-ee. That, and he's kinda like Mr. Fantastic, so it's a twofer deal.

As a QB, what I think I do best is try to respect everyone as best I can, even Gun :p

I have no idea. The only thing I can possibly think of would be that (as with most other Cb1ers) I've played my fair share of time, and made some friends doing it, and one of those friends must have had some free time to type up a nomination :) (thanks to my nominator for taking the time to nominate me, even if I am up against Sefton :p)

The only reason you should pick me over anyone else that was nominated is because I know a lot about how CB works, and I offer that knowledge to anyone who asks for it.

He should be the QB for many reasons, all of them greatly overshadowing any of the very few reasons I should be :p

He is one of the most generous people I know on CB, I dont think I've ever seen anyone else come into New Players with the sole goal of distributing tattoos to the new players, completely free of charge. He gives them great advice on how to use their new gear, and he even loans the lucky newb his awesome low level heavy AC set. Who doesn't like winning every battle they fight just because one guy decided to make you invincible? :) a He is an active forum-goer, and I don't think anyone will ever be able to out-poem him :p

But most of all, he's just cool. I've known him since Cb1, and he hasn't changed one bit to try and get nominated for QB, in conclusion, sefton pwns.

I try my best to help any new players who ask for help, or at least talk in chat and need help.

I am Mr. Quiet. I like a quiet life.

Well, Mr. Q suits me best because, well I dont use the forums a whole lot, and I very rarely venture into Carnage to talk with anyone there. Basically the only place I talk much on CB now is in new players :) And, thats pretty much me in real life, shy, quiet, and low profile :p

But for some odd reason, everyone always calls me Mr. Perfect :?

I will have to respond to this question, like I think most of the nominees will, by doing what I always do. I think that is the primary reason for us to be nominated, that what we do in the normal course of playing CB represents the best of CB. I certainly will not change my behavior in anyway. Quite honestly, I do not think my actions this quarter are up to the QB standards, and I almost declined the nomination for this reason. But, that is not for me to decide. I was nominated by someone who thought my actions deserved nomination, so I will do my best to live up to it.

This is a tougher question to answer this quarter. I have done what I always have done, but work, home life, etc. has made my actual CB playing time less. So I will have to say it is my willingness to help when asked, my generosity to new players, and my strong opinion which I have no compunction about voicing in forums. I will add that I believe in this community. I believe it can be and is the best online community that I have been involved in, and that I think my participation in it, does in some ways contribute positively.

This is another tough question for me this quarter. I am not certain the answer is true. I am not certain that my answer to the next question is not more deserving. I think in a lot of ways I am the sentimental vote. I think my past actions have lead to this nomination, more so than my current ones. In the end, I will say this. I may or may not agree with every change, every sanction, or every post, but my opinion is based solely on my desire for CB to be a better community. Perhaps, this alone is my reason for deserving nomination this quarter.

This is a tough call for me. There are two obvious choices, but I will have to go with Slayer. His continued and every present appearance in new players, his involvement with helping them to love CB like he does, make him the obvious choice. I urge you all to vote for him, as he truly represents the best of CB and deserves a QB by his name more so than anyone. That said Barzoo runs a close and obvious second. His willingness to use contests as a method of encouraging the best kind of participation in CB is second to none.

I want to make the community better. I try to make all my contributions center around this simple theme, be it by encouraging new players to love it like I do, by offering my opinion on the way strats should be worked to make them the best than can be, or my call for positives vs. negatives in the way in which the rules are enforced. These are all governed by the simple idea of how can we make our community better.

Quite honestly I truly wanted to skip this question, but again that would not be fair to those who nominated me. I hate trying to put other people into little specific boxes and say this is them and I hate when someone tries to do it to me. I am a combination of many Mr. Men. I might be one way today and another way tomorrow. I believe firmly that to not allow for change and be willing to change as the world we live in changes is a very dangerous thing. All that said, I am Mr. Happy, because I try to always maintain a positive attitude, and never try to let things bring me down. I believe that to be positive is to allow positive things to happen to you, and that to be negative is to allow negative things to happen to you. So here I am in Happyland.

I think a QB best represents the title and the community by discussing and analyzing the game, and ideas for other possible additions to the game; but above all helping others understand the game as well.

Maybe because I like to analyze the game, discuss strats and concepts all the time, and help new players when i can.

I can't say I deserve to be nominated over any of the others, as we all contribute something different to the cb community; except for OB, kidding! How about a co-QBship?

This is a hard question, because as i said before, every candidate contributes something to the cb community. I would have to say Sefton because he loves to discuss ideas and is always ready to help out a new player with items and whatever, which also helps to the retention of new players.

A sounding board for ideas, some new ideas, just help in anyway I can.

Right now I would have to say Mr. Busy represents me because I'm in my last year of college, so not only do I have all my classes, but I also have to do my senior thesis, which is quite the pain.
