Official QB Quarter 2, 2006 Nominees With Q&A Responses (in Contests)

This post is Carnage Blender's permanent record for Quarter Blender 2006, Quarter 2. This thread will remain locked.

Chatmails have been sent to each nominee. Each chatmail contains 5 questions. The questions are a combination of questions asked before in the previous QB election, and some new questions. Upon receiving the responses, I will post them here to help aid your QB vote. Responses must be turned in to me (by E-mail) no later than 8:00 PM EDT on Sunday, July 9, 2006.

The questions that the nominees will be answering (listed right below this post) will certainly be used to narrow down the choices quite a bit to help decide who will be crowned QB 2006, Quarter 2. And now...

Pixel Sage:

1) What is it that keeps you coming back to Carnage Blender?

         The thing that keeps me coming back to CB is the community and the continual development of the game. It feels great to be part of both, being able to chat with friends and hold contests while re-coding the theming engine so we can expand on our theme selection. Hopefully it'll help bring in more players that stay for the long-run.

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         Why should I become the QB instead of others? Truth is, I don't care much for the glory of the Quarter Blender title. Others who were nominated were probably just as qualified as me, if not more. You guys rock, and I already know many of you know me, but if you think I should be further recognized, that's up to you.

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         The thing I understand least about CB is the negative mindset of multis and scammers.

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         I may not be qualified for QB because I'm not in chat quite as often as the rest of you... does chatting with people through CM a lot make up for that? I get CM spammed a lot ;)

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         Its hard for me to pinpoint someone who made a big contribution to the game. I say in all honesty, the community as a whole contributes by playing the game, especially those involved in forums/chat. In other games like Kings of Chaos and Outwar, there was no community I knew of, so the game got boring. Those who involve themselves with others make this game more than just a game. Carnage Blender is a world in itself!

Mem:

1) What is it that keeps you coming back to Carnage Blender?

         This is the easiest one-- the community. If the game was all there was I'd have left long ago. You people are why I keep coming back, and even if you don't vote me QB I feel as fortunate as any QB could feel just because I know I can come here and just enjoy myself with you all.

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         I shouldn't. You should vote for all the others. They've all does as much, if not more, than I have for this game. They all deserve it more than I do, and I'm proud I could even be considered to be included in a group with the likes of them.

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         I've never really understood the appeal of forging. There are people out there that just forge all day long and get around the same amount of $CB2 as people who would fight, without getting that extra bonus of gaining xp. It's crazy talk! I say the forgers either take a stand on that outrageous blacksmith fee they still have to pay or they quit altogether. Something needs to change there. They should be making more money, if only by 10% or so, as a trade off for not gaining xp.

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         I'm not going to magically transform into a glorious demon if they put those two letters in front of my name. I'm going to be the same old me and I won't even care they're there. I'm not ever going to do for new players what Sefton has done. I'm not ever going to do fancy programming like Verifex. I'm not ever going to create a new interface like Pixel is currently working on (hopefully I like it!). I'm not going to do anything beyond what I'm capable of. I am what I am and if you expect to get something I'm not, then there's no point in voting for me.

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         Anyone who's ever spoken out in the name of changing this game to be more fair has contributed beyond measurable quantities. You are the lifeblood of CB. Without you many of the changes that have happened would quite likely not have happened. Without you CB would be off to Internet Heaven, or, since computer nerds seem to like to abbreviate everything, Netven-- where all popular websites go when no one loves them anymore.

Keep questioning the game. It's not perfect. Never stop questioning that which is not fair.

First of all: good luck to everyone, all of you deserve it, probably more than I do :x

1) What is it that keeps you coming back to Carnage Blender?

         A couple things;
        The chat, I enjoy talking in New Players with the guys that hang out there regularly and helping out the occasional question-filled new player.

        Forums, I don't post too often, but I read anything of interest to me, and a lot of the reason I log on is to check out if there is anything new going on. Discussions about changes/strategy are what I really like to see most of the time, lets me know the CB community is still thinking, not just brainlessly clicking away ; )

        My clan, I've known most of the people in my clan since Cb1 and they are all great people (as you can see, 3 of us were nominated for QB! :-P)

        And of course, I would love to see the strategy I have envisioned put to use in the top ranks, of course, I don't really fight quite as much as I would need to in order to get the money and MPR I would need to use it, but hey, the BA is there and I'm a bored person.

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         Bah....tough question.

        If for any reason at all, it would probably be because of my constant presence in New Players, where I try to help out anyone who asks for it while I am not afk : )

        And of course most importantly; today, July 6th, 2006 is my 2 year CB-Anniversary :-P

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         This question... : )

        Or, UC. That skill has baffled me for 2 years now : P

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         As of late I have not been very active, and I'm evil so I make afk rooms all the time.

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         A lot of people who have made fan-sites for CB have taken a lot of time doing so, those who sacrifice that time really help the community by proving that they care about the game.

1) What is it that keeps you coming back to Carnage Blender?

         The instant gratification in small measured doses. It broke me of a counter-strike habit that hung on like a monkey to his bright red and gold pinstriped jump suit sporting, large moustache having, gold fez wearing, organ grinder on roller skates.

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         Since everyone already used the cheater answer, I'll take the low road and say that I should be QB because of... *10 minutes go by* ...oh heck who am I kidding has Pixel won yet???

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         Economic discipline, I tend to buy high and sell low, this last strat change for me was the first time I didn't lose NW in trading or selling off items.

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         Just one? As Jon has pointed out, I tend to allow raw emotion to speak all too often. I really lose emotional if not logical perspective on the importance of the game.

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         I initially thought about Stump's site and what it did for my gaming experience, but in all honesty I think Pixel has far and away done amazing things in his time here with his enthusiasm and vibrant desire to add to our experience.

         P.S. I was actually almost more excited after finding out they used this last question (it was a deliberate plant in my campain for Pixel) than I was about the outrageous nomination.

1) What is it that keeps you coming back to Carnage Blender?

         The underlying answer for me is the same as most - the community. I feel like I actually have a lot of friends here, at least the closest thing to actual friends that you can have online. Then, of course, I am addicted to the game. The fact that it requires real thought and not just simple key mashing and pretty pictures, and it always changes and one has to be around constantly to truly stay on top of it, intrigued me from the start. And then for a while, it was to create the largest UC character and hit 1 mil MPR, and I accomplished those, but now I'm doing that all over again with an NCB. And finally, quite a while ago, I promised Bast that I would CM her a :) every day, and I don't like to break promises...

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         I shouldn't. Pixel should. I just give stuff away like a lunatic. He does substantial work that benefits the game as a whole.

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         The spell-check. 'Nuff said.

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         I honestly can't think of one, other than the fact that there are other nominees who deserve it more than me.

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         Anything that either keeps new players here once they get here, or keeps veterans coming back again. Be it by being a good mentor, or offering engaging chat and/or forum discussion, or with generosity of strat/game information, or generosity with cash and/or items, or interesting contests, or generosity of improvements to game mechanics, or just a general offering of goodwill to other players to make them want to stay and keep coming back. Basically, the biggest contribution we all make to CB is by being CBers - we all make CB what it is.

         Well there are many things that keep me coming back to CB. The community on this game is made up of some really freindly and helpful people. I also like seeing how my strat ideas hold up against other peoples strats.

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         Because I'm better than the rest :8^) hehe just kidding. Honestly i can't think of a real reason why I should be picked over anyone else.

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         What I least understand has got to be why you would forge for a CB living. Yeah you make some cash but you can make the same cash fighting and get experience (IMO exp is better than cash hands down).

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         Well I haven't been here that long, other people have more time here and have given more help than I have.

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         The biggest contributers to this game are the people that come back and play it every day. Jon wouldn't keep this site up and running if only a handful of us played it :)

Wasp:

1) What is it that keeps you coming back to Carnage Blender?

         The most significant thing that keeps me coming back to carnage blender is the game play. There are so many different strategies you can make and I'm always thinking up different ideas to get that "perfect strat". Another reason is the community. The people on this game are different to most other games; everyone is so helpful and friendly. This is what keeps me in chat talking to others. The fact that you can go into the new player's room and start helping the new players is also an excellent idea. In other similar games I've tried, you don't get that help on a one to one basis.

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         Well, this is one of those questions that you have to be careful about answering. I don’t want to sound full of myself, yet don't want to look like I don't really care.

         Either way I think I should become QB because I help, and enjoy helping, the new generation of players that join the game. Without these new players, we couldn't all enjoy competition at the higher ranks of the game. This is why I truly like the NUB. Helping these NUB players out at the beginning is very important, so they get the best start. I may not be a mentor, but not being one gives me the freedom to help every player in chat, if and when they need it.

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         I have never understood the point of low level melee weapons. My advice to newer players is always to save up that little extra and get the better weapon. Why are they there!? Why buy a double chain mail!?

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         I must admit, I'm not the most active person in the forums, or in the main chat room. This will mean most of the other veterans will probably not know who I am.

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         The biggest contribution made to the game would be the people in the room new players who give up their time to help the new players, without expecting anything back.

         However, every person who is part of this game and community helps to shape it. So hats off to everybody : )

1) What is it that keeps you coming back to Carnage Blender?

         I keep coming back because I love the game. I enjoy seeing my character grow and tweaking my strategy, browsing the forums, and chatting with some of the great people that I've gotten to know. I login for the gameplay, but I stick around for the community.

2) Why should you become QB instead of the others that were nominated?

         There are many others that have made greater contributions to this game than I, and thus more deserving of the honour. I'm just tickled pink to be nominated. :)

3) What about Carnage Blender do you have the least understanding of?

         I've never understood why some people hate changemonth. It's like having Christmas 4 times a year. Will I get that shiny new bike, or a lump of coal.

4) Name one reason you might not be suitable for QB.

         I'm not as active in the community as I should be.

5) What do you see as the biggest contribution to the game made by someone other than Jon, an Admin., or a current QB?

         The greatest contribution is time. Taking the time to help new players, run contests, analyze strategies, or even make drunken forum posts. This is what builds our community and makes this game great. Even those who just login to use their BA are contributing time to the game.

         I find this game like a good drug wanting more & more

         the only reason I should be QB is that those letters will look better by my name instead of theres

         I dont understand how when you are fighitng someone & you can beat them then the next time it could be a lose or a draw & they have changed nothing

         Im very weak in the chat department

         Its really hard to just pick one person so Im not going to but I will say that anyone that helps a new player get off on the rite track is a great help & I know there is a lot of yous out there ... so I pat you all on the back & say great job keep it up
