Wiki: Badly formed pages (in General)

AdminNightStrike October 15 2006 2:39 PM EDT

If you check the Wiki index, there are several pages with badly formed titles, such that they can never be accessed to kill properly. For example:

ST//DX Focused Tank Armor
ST/DX Focused Tank Armor

Both of those pages link to "DX Focused Tank Armor". Can they be forcibly removed from the database via someone with such privileges?

AdminShade October 15 2006 2:50 PM EDT

nobody has those privileges, even Jonathan said he couldn't remove wiki pages.

Just try to tidy them up and remove all links to them to remove them.

I have no idea how. I can't actually access the pages, since they have slashes in the titles. If you explain to me how to do it, I'd be glad to.

I was guessing that someone like Jon could manually edit the SQL database (or whatever kind of database it is).

I can access both pages.

And they are 2 pages, not just one...

If there is a page containing all the ST and DX focused Tank Armor sets then those 2 pages can be removed from the 'Armor' and 'EWTE' pages and have these instead link to the 'ST and DX Focused Tank Armor' page

Ok, I have merged the 2 pages, there were 4 but 2 of each were duplicates...

NightStrike, perhaps you could make that merged page (called 'ST and DX Focused Tank Armor') into a better layout so people can see the 2 different armor sets.

I have effectively deleted those two other pages however they still remain in the wiki index:

ST//DX Focused Tank Armor
ST/DX Focused Tank Armor

Not sure why or how that happens but atm it's the best we have.

Are you really sure you can access those pages? Because I really can't, and I've even tried some tricks. All I ended up with was the page for DX Focused Tank Armor.

AdminNightStrike October 15 2006 5:25 PM EDT

They'll be in the wiki index until they can be renamed to more useless pages. As long as they are totally dereferenced, it should essentially solve the problem.

AdminShade October 15 2006 5:31 PM EDT

I indeed can't access the pages.

there are 3 of those pages with a / in them, all being linked to 'new' pages without content now...
