Get Baldur's Gate (1 and/or 2) to work on higher resolution: (in Contests)

I have played both Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and still own them.

I'd want to try them over one more time at least, and remembered that they can be played on a higher resolution. I just don't remember anymore how...


So I will be awarding $100k to the player who can find me a way in which you can play either or both of these games at a higher resolution than they standard (through the game itself) are able of.

I'm not sure, but I think there was a Setup executable in the game folder, in which you could check the box for unsupported resolutions and choose one.

If that's totally wrong, I'm sorry. I don't have them installed anymore, so I can't check, but I seem to remember something like this from one game of that series.. not sure if that was only Icewind Dale though.

I already know that method, or at least for BG2, and thats a standard way :)

They say the only way to do it is to use a MOD

You actually need BG 2 to play BG 1. You just MOD all the quests and story lines to BG 2 from BG 1
And you use the BG 2 engine.

Or because its an old game, fiddle around the *.ini file, the info should be there to.
Please note: copy the *.ini file first before fiddling.

i think what henk said is right, you should be able to find it in the .ini file, it'll be start-up resolution.
