Forum Counter (in General)

I am sure this has been suggested before, but I never seen it. If it has a pointer in that direction would be nice.

But, I am suggesting a post counter for every player.

Now I understand there are certain disadvantages to doing this. People posting just for the sake of posting. But I think the advantages are worth it.

First, gives a reason for new players to start using forums. Even if the reason is initially superficial, a player who gets themselves immersed in the forums is much more likely to keep playing.

It lets new players know where some very sound advice is coming from. While veterans all know exactly how intelligent everyone is here, high post counts would get them to consider words said in forums more carefully.

You could offer rewards to new players for reaching certain goals in forums, but not so much as to make them cheat, but enough for them to have to read and respond intelligently to threads. Thinking like 1k for first 10 posts, and 10k for first 100. Not much, but enough to give them something to shoot for.

Also, it would give a kind of badge of honor for some players. Ranger, GL, Johnny, BM, and a bunch of others.

Any ideas, comments, flames?

There are already forum counters... giving rewards for people who spam isnt good :)

In each section of the forums you can see who the top posters of all time are and who the top posters of the last 2 weeks are by clicking "statistics".

Instead of a post count, maybe a 'karma' system would be better to ensure nobody floods the board with crap.

So, the users would give you 'good' and 'bad' points depending on you behaviour, basically.

And the title of 'forum junkie' goes to *drum roll* Shade, with the remarkable total of 5600 posts.

The 'off-topic award' goes to GL and Johnny. Obviously.

Hehehe, of course it goes to me, I am one of the all time contributors.

Even on CB1 I slowly creeped up the stairs to being it ;)

Anyway, I hope more than 50% of my threads and replies are good :)
