Does CB2 send reminder mail to truant newbies? (in General)

I've been on some online games where if you're away for a fortnight or so, they send an enthusiastic reminder email that sometimes prompts you to log in again. Does CB2 have any such facility? Just asking, coz the only referral I had hasn't logged in since the one time when he joined :)

it reminds them before their account gets deleted for inactivity, yes :)

perhaps they should get reminded after 1 week of inactivity?

AdminJonathan November 10 2006 1:15 PM EST

perhaps, but some people would call that spam

AdminShade November 10 2006 1:17 PM EST

true, but would 1 single email be considered spam? perhaps then let it be sent after a month?

yep, one week is a long enough time, you couldn't call that spam, you could say, "your character is pining for a fight, etc." something and provide the CB2 link, and they'll want to be back to fight :)

/me is far too tired and misread the subject line "Does CB2 send reminder mail to taunt newbies?" which isn't as bad an idea as you'd think...

chuck1234 November 10 2006 4:35 PM EST

yep, taunt them, bug them, whatever, but just in case they think its spam, how about this:
get the mentor to send them the email when they don't log in after one week; that way, the email is sent from the mentor's id, and CB2 cannot be guilty of "spam".

AdminJonathan November 10 2006 4:37 PM EST

that's a good idea

I nominate you guys to come up with a default email for mentors to send out :)

Sub: <login id>, <insert character name here> wants to meet you again

Hello <login id>,

Your character <insert character name here> is longing for some action at Carnage Blender. So log on as fast as you can and fight your way to character growth, have lots of fun even as you learn some strategy, and chat with like-minded gamers. YOu have accumulated a whole bunch of Battle Allocations [BA] which you can use in fights that will test your intelligence and skill.

What's stopping you, have no fear, log on to:

<carnage blender url>

Your mentor is there to help you if you face any problems, or you need any sort of advice.

This might be helpful for people who only check it out once in a hurry and forget about it just as quick. Maybe on a second look they'd get hooked.

Add one more informative and motivational para:

Remember, for the first four months only, you have a New User Bonus [NUB] that gives you more than double the rewards others get; so if you play regularly, you will be in a position by the end of four months, to challenge the top-most player in the game, and maybe win. Are you up to this task?
