TSA or Adam (in General)

Hi,

I'm planning for my next character and I have a question to ask before I carry on with the forging. Is an adam or a TSA better for my wall minion that is protecting mainly against mages? If I'm going to do the forging, I'll have the adam forged till +65 or the TSA till +40. The minion will be wearing other armor like SC, CML, HoD, TG, MgS and AoAC.

Forgot to add that the minion will be at the back protecting against MM.

The TSA is mainly used to defend against Fireball. MM is relatively weak, and with the decaying nature of the TSA, unless you kill the MM minion quickly, you will be using the TSA more like normal armor as opposed to armor that reduces DD. If you ARE able to kill the MM quickly, then you don't need the wall to begin with. I think you will gain more with an Adam and a largeish MgS (+30 seems to be standard).

But, if the "wall" is in back, taking physical damage is not going to be its point, yes? Magic is what it will be taking unless there is an AoI in play.

TSA and MgS are a very nice combination for a back wall. SFs are fairly popular, so you pretty much take care of those right off, buying your front, offensive minion an extra round or two.

hmm... I guess it depends on how many minions there are in total.

DAWG still has his second wall wearing a TSA...

However the degrading nature of the TSA made me move my tank to Heavy AC...

I would agree, if you can get your heavy tank to something in the 350-375 total AC range, that is pretty dang good. But if you are going to go MgS, you aren't going to get to that stratosphere. In that case, I would go MgS/TSA instead of MS/Adam...

I believe the number that Ranger spouted off was 300AC...he didn't say if that was before the MS or not..so you'd have to ask.

But at some point even the MgS loses to the Heavy AC...plus you can train spells on a real wall, no such luck with the tin foil ballerina...

QBsutekh137 November 29 2006 11:07 AM EST

Yes, good point, at least some base DM or base Prot, for example...

Kong Ming November 29 2006 11:12 AM EST

I think I'll go for the TSA/ MgS combination since TSA also gives me bonus to STR which allows my wall to help kill some enchanters. I'll be equipping it with a dagger +100... :p

QBsutekh137 November 29 2006 11:29 AM EST

Heh, wonderful!

IMO,

If you go with an adam, a MS is best to get your AC way up there.

If you go with a TSA, you already decided to forgo the high AC and I would go with a MgS.

Well, I did my sums. If I'm going for the adam, MS and heavy armor combo, I can only get them to around AC 328. The + will be around 224 which will give me about 47% in magic reduction. If I go with the TSA, MgS and heavy armor combo, I'll get about 80% max and 56% min in magic reduction. Since the minion is going to be at the back, I guess the latter would be more suitable against MM attacks.
