i have always wondered this aswell.. i just decided to pay the 2$ incase something happens if i dont.

didn't post right, but you probably get the message. One's free, the other's $2, for the same stack... I've been going with the expensive one just to save from losing out on any smidget of effectiveness. And as a sidenote, I'm not using this post to promote them for sale. They are for personal use, not for sale... (some jokes come to mind about this. But i figure, if they would be appropriate for you to hear, then they came to your mind as well...)

The fee is actually an insurance premium. You wouldn't want to be messing around with razor sharp arrows or even worse, explosive shot, without some kind of medical insurance. :)

It is a known bug. There have been a few past posts on it.

Basically the cost of the more expensive upgrade, given all ammo are base, is the amount of stacks your merging.

IE, since your merging 2 stacks, the cost is 2. If you merge 8 base stacks, the costs will be Free and 8 cb2.
