It would be awesome if the chatmail you get when you win an auction included the final amount, so I wouldn't have to go look at the transfer log to see my overage refund amount.

not a bad idea.
Before the Ebay type bidding, not really needed as you should know the amount you bid, but with the new style, your final amount is really unknown till you personally check the auction or your transfer log.
