is the auctioneer on the take? (in General)

i frequently view expired auctions and to my surprise i see that i won a pair of EG's for under 2k. i highly doubted that to be true. so with a bit of looking around to come across somethings that dont add up

from expired auctions records:
A Pair of Elven Gloves [3] for sale by auctioneer

$1,867 (max bid: 950,000) bid by drop precious cargo (blackmage) on November 29 2006 10:53 AM EST

transfer of the item to myself:
auctioneer (auctioneer) drop precious cargo (blackmage) A Pair of Elven Gloves [3] (end-auction 76798) November 29 2006 4:12 AM EST

but i was outbid before hand:
auctioneer (auctioneer) drop precious cargo (blackmage) $3945 (outbid 76798) November 28 2006 1:12 PM EST

the outbid clearly shows that this item 76798 went over $3945. and i bid on the item after i won it?i mean i won the item at 4:12 AM, my bid was placed the same day only later at 10:53 AM

i know auctions seems to only keep a record of what was the initial bid was from the winner(apparantly), thus not knowing what was the TRUE price paid for said item.

any takers on this or someone to explain why i am wrong?

P.S can i have my money back if i win? 950k minus $1,867 :P

erm, 1 PM is after 4 AM...

but the 29th is after the 28th Shade ;)
