Naming bonus and tattoo growth. (in General)

i have "Max tattoo: 1,088,884" with "Check My Tat!! lvl 1,088,309" and my tattoo isn't growing. While i realize this is because of the 4% boost to the tattoo's level that I'm gaining from the name, something seems off. Fore example:

My VB is currently getting an increase to stats from naming that would take just under 1.3m net worth to duplicate. Yet, that 1.3m is not counted towards my weapon allowance. Why does the naming bonus of a tattoo count towards the max tattoo?

Why is your tattoo even near your max tat? Mine is at about 2/3 of it, and that's with a tattoo and character that started at about the same time.

bought it big. Not sure what a tat so much smaller than my max would do, and i've avoided finding out so far... :-)

I ran into this problem too...when your max tatoo level is greater then your tatoo level * 1.04 then it will start to level up.

You can only use the tattoo that is AS powerful as you max tattoo level, not necessarily equal to your tattoo level. With both items, it doesn't increase the NW at all, therefore if you had a tattoo that was equivalent to your tattoo level and not named, your PR would be higher than it currently is with the named tattoo. Does that explain things well enough or is there something I should clear up?

Consider weapon naming an extra enchantment that gives your sword power. It's magic. It's invisible! Weapon Allowance is based on NW. Naming adds no NW to the weapon.

On the other hand, Tattoos are about LEVEL not NW. The invisible extra power is measured in levels, which is why it interacts with the Max Tattoo in the way it does.

I'm not debating the effect, only the lack of growth. I'm not expecting for my tattoo to be as effective as one at lvl 1,131,841. I just think that it should grow as if it were lvl 1,088,309, because it is. The naming is taking away from the progression of this item.

Say you have a named AC at +70, and it loses its name while ur forging it to +71, would you lose the progress you've gotten on the item so far? I think not. But if my tattoo were to lose its name tomorow, all the BA i spent today that could've been raising it goes to waste...

I'm only trying to say that in reference to raising, that there is no penalty on any equipment from naming. While, with a tattoo, there is...

The BA you're spending also goes toward raising your max tattoo level, so it's not being wasted. Soon it will rise above your tattoo pretty fast. And then your tattoo will start to grow at a normal rate naming bonus and all.

The BA you spent are for the base level, not for the bonus...

the bonus is calculated based on the base level, the same way the bonus of, in your example, an AC is calculated based on the current stats.
