Pan's Labyrinth (in Off-topic)

Just saw the movie a few hours ago and I was truly amazed...

Though I have only 1 question about it...

Is this based on a book, and if so why can't I find anything about it? (in other words can you help me find the book if it exists...)

Del Toro is credited with the screenplay as well as the directing, and there's no adaptation credit, so probably not a book.

"Del Toro has said the film has strong connections in theme to The Devil's Backbone and should be seen as an informal sequel dealing with some of the issues raised there.[6] In 2004 Del Toro said: "Pan is an original story. Some of my favorite writers (Borges, Blackwood, Machen, Dunsany) have explored the figure of the god Pan and the symbol of the labyrinth. These are things that I find very compelling (remember the labyrinth image on Hellboy?) and I am trying to mix them and play with them." Some of the works he drew on for inspiration include Jorge Luis Borges' Labyrinths, Arthur Machen's The Great God Pan and The White People, Lord Dunsany's The Blessing of Pan, Algernon Blackwood's Pan's Garden, and Francisco Goya's Saturn Devouring His Son.[7]

It looks really good and I want to see it, but its rated R. What is it rated R for???

Violence I guess, saw it and didn't hear too much violent language and there was no nudity... was a bit of gore though so that's probably it.

Interesting, I've never even heard of this movie, but that feedback sounds good! I'll have to see what this is all about...

Good luck, 'Birdie. American distribution of _good_ movies is embarrassing.

Well, there is quite some violence indeed, though it's very realistic, an amazing movie...

TBH never enough gabber January 21 2007 3:55 PM EST

It is a very jarring movie, but good none the less. Do not take little kids to this movie, it is rated R for very good reason.

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 21 2007 4:56 PM EST

I'm going to have to see this.

Silatt January 21 2007 9:21 PM EST

I seen the making for it, and was a blowed away. At the time of seeing the making of it I thought it wasn't even out yet, guess now I'll have to rush right out and see it.

what do you mean with jarring?
