Strategy - Tips and tactics (in General)

MrC [DodgingTheEvilForgeFees] January 21 2007 2:27 PM EST

Yesterday I was in the mood for writing something and having just recently rejoined CB I figured why not get to writing that strategy article I've wanted to write for a while now. Mostly it's finished but it needs fine tuning.

Anyhow, one of the sections in it covers something along the lines of tips and tactics. The small stuff that gives you an advantage over your opponents.

Anyone have any tactics that work well for them?
How about any tips for newbies and if you want, veterans too?

If I were to add any of these full credit would be given to you.

As an example, the ones I've got so far as my own contribution are: "Invisible MPR", Correct use of enchanters, Targeting specific strategies, A more effective wall minion, Using only one minion to attack and a boring tip about being careful with your money.

That's the sort of thing I'm after. Even if I don't get around to finishing this thing, at least this thread could be helpful to some people.

Anything you'd care to add, please do so. :)

"Correct use of enchanters"

How in depth have you gone there?

That would Cover the right way to use VA, GA and PL?

Such as not using PL and GA together, because Damage absorbed by PL doesn't get reflected.

and how much VA and GA SHOULD be trained, that is, for VA, around your average damage, so you don't 'waste' XP, GA should be around their average blow, It seems a lot of people actually over train VA and GA, and I see PL on walls many times because they get mislead on PL and how it works with AC.

They are common errors, that I see all the time, don't know if you've included that, or if it helps at all.

All about PL:

Heh.

This is a small point of contention between flamey and I.
He is probably right, but I believe that PL can be useful in teams using GA if their GA is lower than the average blow of the opponent. In this case, a bit of PL can keep the team alive longer, as well as making the XP spent on GA slightly more effective.

Although, I am not 100% certain how GA is supposed to work.. does it calculate its splashback before or after PL? If it is after, then the above argument counts... if it is before, then it is not so persuasive.

Well, I can't wait to read the entry in the wiki when it's done...

Flamey, no I hadn't included that.

I assumed they were training them to the right levels. Might be worth a slot in the tips section "When training anything relative to other stats, make sure to know how much is too much. For example Bloodlust and Archery are capped at 25% of your strength (or 1.00), Vampiric Aura only has effect up to the amount you hit and Guardian Angel only has effect up to the amount of damage you take minus that which is absorbed by Phantom Link".

I'll think about it.

Ranger, thanks, exactly what I was looking for. I'm not nearly up to date on the newer skills so that's always good.
I am disappointed though, didn't you and I always used to disagree about everything? Why must yet another CBer be making sense.. such a shame.

Thanks to both of you for sharing your insights, they've been helpful. :)

Muon, sorry I excluded you from my last post. I left the page there for a while and didn't refresh so I missed your post.

Yes, that does make sense. I'll still be looking into PL more before deciding on anything so things like that will likely be included.

Thanks. :)

"For example Bloodlust and Archery are capped at 25% of your strength (or 1.00)"

BL only needs 20% or 1/5 of the ST. :)

Yeah, It would be better in a general Training format or section or whatever, just trying to be helpful. :)

"BL only needs 20% or 1/5 of the ST."

Oh am I going to have fun trying to catch up on these little details. >_<

The Wiki is your friend ;)

Or you can post it here and we can tell you what is incorrect due to changes or maybe just a mistake you made, you know, proof-read it for you. :)
