Merging question (in General)

krasko January 22 2007 5:41 PM EST

In cb1 was possible two users to merge. When cb2 started i read somewhere that merging wont be able for some time.So can someone tell me if merging is currently possible?

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] January 22 2007 5:42 PM EST

As far as I know, two users merged onto a single account in not allowed on CB2. I am 99.99% certain that is the case.

QBRanger January 22 2007 5:43 PM EST

And I am the other 0.01% certain it is not allowed

krasko January 22 2007 5:46 PM EST

I do not see big difference if two players are playing together or one is investing USD into the game.Anyway thanks for the fast answers.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] January 22 2007 5:50 PM EST

Allowing it would allow 2 users to use USD on an account though krasko so your logic is flawed.

krasko January 22 2007 5:52 PM EST

I do not think that USD is bad thing.Everyone can buy as much as he wants.Again i am almost sure that i saw somewhere that merging wont be allowed only for few months of cb2.I am maybe wrong.

AdminG Beee January 22 2007 5:59 PM EST

It's not allowed.

Miandrital January 22 2007 6:00 PM EST

I'm guessing that I am part of the reason why it is not allowed. Let's just say that merging is not a wise thing to do, unless you are really good friends with the other person in real life.

(A failed merge is the reason why XingU Hates Mian)

Flamey January 22 2007 6:01 PM EST

*gasp* We got the reason! *gasp*

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 22 2007 6:14 PM EST

I think the reaosn is more that merging is like biological botting.

You get to spend more BA easier on a single account than a single person can. Therefore, not a good thing, as no one who isn't in a merge can really compete woth those who are.

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 22 2007 6:21 PM EST

I'd have to agree with that GL. Take myself and Flamey. We live on different sides of the world. If we were to merge then it could possibly be 24 hours of BA burned.

QBsutekh137 January 22 2007 11:30 PM EST

Um, Zog, it would be very easy for users to merge USD into a single account. It would be called writing your buddy a check. Am I missing something?

There is also absolutely nothing stopping me from giving all my CBD (or even USD) to another player to use on their character...benevolent multi-ing -- absolutely no rules against that sort of thing...

In other words, if two people want to tie their wagons to the same team and take the top spot, they could do so very easily and comfortably within the confines of the stated rules. Todd and Spydah didn't gain much in terms of BA utilization by both playing Spid. For the most part, I could hang with them on that front. Where I fell behind was on their joint tactical genius and their joint pocketbooks. Two folks could do that here too, they just would have to decide who gets the honor of C-enter, C-enter, C-enter...

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 23 2007 12:08 PM EST

Yeah and risk getting banned should player #2 ever get caught touching his investment.

QBsutekh137 January 23 2007 1:10 PM EST

Well, yeah, duh. I am not talking about two people sneaking around...

Example: I build the highest MPR team, find a NUB I like, mentor them, AND do all forging for them. Imagine the net worth of that team! Sure, the fighter gets the glory, but the partnership is totally legal and could be completely public -- a consortium of sorts. Not a thing wrong with it. And how _would_ one person ever touch the others' stuff? No passwords would ever be exchanged, and that's pretty much the bottom line.

As long as neither of the following are true:

-- Two people are logging into a single account.
-- One person is logging into two accounts.

...everything is kosher.

LOL Sut, you offering the CB public your foolproof method of world domination? Sounds like you put a lot of thought into it! (I am JUST teasing you!)

Anyway, suffice to say in my opinion, that the idea od CB is to have fun, not rule the world. There are no cash prizes or fabulous mechandise to be won. In the end, sounds like a lot of sacrifice from one party to the gain of another, with the only result being, the target on your back getting larger and larger.....

:)

QBsutekh137 January 23 2007 2:05 PM EST

Well, IIRC, one of the most fun aspects of CB1 toward the end was with the huge alliances building uber-characters I remember Bebop trying to build the ultimate DBs, jayuu and Freed with awesome, huge teams, Maltese Cross at the top for a while, Avoid crippling folks with EC... There was a lot of joint effort going on, and it was fun. I'm not into domination, at least not jointly (for now).
