Besides the VB what is (in General)

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 25 2007 8:44 AM EST

the best 1 handed weapon a tank could get?
ELS? BoTh? Katana?

Or should i leave that all together and focus on a MH?

QBJohnnywas January 25 2007 9:01 AM EST

Hmm. How long are your battles lasting? At this point I'd say it doesn't really matter. Very few of your battles are going past three rounds. If I was you I'd invest that bloodlust somewhere else - basic stats are always good to have boosted in a tank.

There isn't much point in investing too heavily in an area that you're not really going into. Any of the weapons is going to work for you if you're not using it in battle....

Kong Ming January 25 2007 9:03 AM EST

Since you are using a SoD, you just focus on increasing that damage and finish everything in ranged instead ;) Does archery work for SoD? If so, maybe you can consider that since it will increase your chance to hit.

QBJohnnywas January 25 2007 9:05 AM EST

Sorry that didn't really answer the question. ;)

A lot of people will say the VB, and it is good, thanks to it's abilities with AC and endurance. But if you're running a bloodlust tank then the built in VA of the BoTh and the Morg can really make a difference once your battles start to go into 7 rounds and above.

However you get much more damage for your money from a BoNE, so if you prepared to either put up with the dex penalty or get rid of the shield I'd say consider that.

But first decide whether or not you're going for quicker kill or longer term battles.

TheHatchetman January 25 2007 9:14 AM EST

in short, as far as i can tell:

VB>MH>BoTh>BoNE>ELS>Katana...

Talion January 25 2007 9:24 AM EST

I agree with Hatchet almost 100%.

With an SoD, the MH and BoTH might be the better options over the Vorpal if you reach melee rounds often. Since most enemy minions might be low on HP, but still alive, when you reach melee, you need as much HP as possible while you finish them off.

Also, Archery has no effect on a SoD... so don't go that way.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 25 2007 10:00 AM EST

Well the thing is that the SoD is very ineffective against walls, yes the small minions die of pretty fast with it but the walls stay up. That causes me to stalemate. And i rather lose then stalemate.
So if the VA from the MH or Both is only drawing a small piece of the hp left, that isn't worth it either.

So far most of my battles are not going any higher then 4 or 5 rounds. Most even in 1 round (i love exp shot), but against smallsncb (big wall 307 AC) the els ineffective. So what to get?

TheHatchetman January 25 2007 10:14 AM EST

Yeah, you have to keep in mind, if a minion has 20 HP left, and you hit them for 10mil with a MH, with BL trained at 15m (i know no1 has 15m of a skill...), you may recover somewhere around 8 HP... So if the other minions are weakened as you say, you dont really want the MH/BoTh...

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] January 25 2007 10:16 AM EST

To try and get through a wall then VB is the best but out of the other 2 one-handed weapons, your ELS is already better for damage.

TheHatchetman January 25 2007 10:23 AM EST

True, but if you're going to forgo the benefits of the VB and BoTh, then you might as well go for the BoNE... No sense in dealing measly "massive" damage...

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 25 2007 10:50 AM EST

So basically the best thing besides the VB is a VB?

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] January 25 2007 10:53 AM EST

Since your only problem is with Wall minions then that is definitely going to be the consensus :)

Talion January 25 2007 10:53 AM EST

But won't the SoD take care of any minion with very low HP before melee? The only minions left when he reaches melee will be the ones that had lots of HP to start with.

So I still think MH and BoTH, especially combined with VA, can be as good as, or better than, the VB.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 25 2007 10:57 AM EST

Now you've got it...

VB is the easy way to do things, otherwise you'll have to think to win.

Decay does a wonderful Job at doing damage to walls, and is the only DD spell worth training from base at almost any time. Even when hit with a .75 AMF Decay can still be a powerful ally against heavy minions and DM users. I tend to look at things long term. Jon has committed himself to the VB and other supporter items remaining a viable option for fighting, even up high. He hasn't said the VB will always be the best weapon ever seen. I trust that no matter what happens, the BoNE (and it's skinny sister the ELS) will always do the most damage to most targets. The VB is a can opener, and that's great, if you want to eat pork and beans someday.

TheHatchetman January 25 2007 11:02 AM EST

well... when your SoD has taken all the low AC minions out, all you have left is the pork and beans...

QBRanger January 25 2007 11:23 AM EST

Your question is sort of analogous to asking:
What is the best sports car after the Porsche?

The Miata, The Saturn Sky, or the Eclipse?

Porsche, there is no substitute.

Same applies to the VB.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 25 2007 11:45 AM EST

if every tank should be sporting a VB what good is then to upgrade your armor past 200 AC? that money is better spent on your VB then????

The looks of things im better of upgrading my SoD then buying a VB. I hope the SoD/ELS combo works.
But in the long run im going to need one. Is it me or does everyone else thinks the VB should be the next supporter item again???

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 25 2007 12:14 PM EST

For the poor suckers who don't have a VB. ;)

Oh and the Mages.

400AC hurts Mages. ;)

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 25 2007 3:41 PM EST

dear sweet lord help us you've got novice going off about the VB again :)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 25 2007 3:44 PM EST

I wasn't singing it's virtues and overpoweredness though ...so how does that figure?

QBJohnnywas January 25 2007 4:04 PM EST

What I want to know is: does the VB have a soul?

AdminNightStrike January 25 2007 5:47 PM EST

"the best 1 handed weapon a tank could get?
ELS? BoTh? Katana?

Or should i leave that all together and focus on a MH?"

It has been my experience that the MH is a horrible 1 handed weapon.

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 25 2007 5:55 PM EST

MH is 2 handed....

AdminNightStrike January 25 2007 5:57 PM EST

hence the joke............

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 25 2007 6:09 PM EST

sorry hard to pick up on written sarcasm :)

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 25 2007 6:16 PM EST

"or should i leave that all together"

It refers to completely leave 1 handed weapons alone and focusing on 2 handed weapons.
And im not a complete noob, i do know the difference between those.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 25 2007 6:41 PM EST

"What I want to know is: does the VB have a soul?"

Define Soul. ;)

AdminQBVerifex January 25 2007 6:53 PM EST

"More, need more souls!"

Doesn't AoD remind you of Nightmare?

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] January 25 2007 6:57 PM EST

The VB is obviously Soul Edge ;)

AdminNightStrike January 25 2007 8:08 PM EST

"Define Soul. ;)"

The capitol of south korea?

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 25 2007 9:10 PM EST

The Soul Edge is a two-handed weapon except in the case of Cervantes where it's 2 smaller one-handed weapons. :\

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] January 25 2007 9:40 PM EST

and now you're being pedantic, are there no boundaries to your annoyance?

TheHatchetman January 25 2007 10:00 PM EST

wow... and someone said that *I* picked on Opquiorrulse (Don't even know what to call him anymore...)... :P
