I really do think PL is indispensable, and should be inlcuded in every team.
I hope I've captured all my reasons in this post, but I'm bound to have missed some.
1: PL stops your opponents VA leech. Even from a MH/BTh, which nothing else can. This can be invaluable, when facing these wepaons.
2: The 10% Damage reduction cannot be reduced in any way.
3: It redirects Stat drains from E/AXbows. Nothing else in the game can do this.
4: (And this is the big one, I'm not sure I'm going to explain this well...) It allows the AS or trained XP in HP on the PL minion to effectively be HP on your main Damage Dealer (or Wall, depending on how you've set your team up). For example, taking a two minion team (the smallest you can get use of PL out of, ignoring single minion and familiar...), instead of being able to train 100% of the XP you would have into HP on your single minion, you can at most, train 50% on each. Even if you use AS, due to the multiple minion penalty. This would usually make your main damage dealer 50% weaker (in the health department). PL allows you to get back to the 100% (more including the 10% damage reduciton) expenditure you would have had, by turning the PL minions hit points into a subsiduary of the damage dealers.

Oh and;
5: While PL nulifies the use of VA on that minion, it works wonders with the Regen from a TSA. Use a TSA to regen your PL battery, and then use VA/MH/BTh on your Tank to gain more life.
The TSA doesn't work with AS or VA (if VA keeps you above Max HP, the TSA won't kick in), but using it with PL, the TSA will kick in the moment you take any, and aborb damage, and it won't hinder your tanking increasing thier HP though VA.
Best of both worlds.
