find me ART! contest (in Contests)

QBOddBird February 5 2007 10:48 PM EST

I am looking for art, photographs, drawings, paintings, anything of that sort for:

70's related.

*and*

Latino/Salsa related.

I will be using this to draw inspiration for our Spring show theme so that I can create an appropriate background....so make it good! =)

100k for the 70's related one, 100k for the Latino/Salsa related one.

Prizes may be increased if the quality is high enough.

Go at it! =)

Pet0sh February 6 2007 12:35 AM EST

You mean pictures like this?

Juzza February 6 2007 2:56 AM EST

The inspiration would be the background of the sunset and with the girl with the flowers.  that guy seems a little suss

Nerevas February 7 2007 5:05 AM EST

This is kind of 60's and 70's.

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] February 8 2007 5:50 PM EST

Well this is the 70's... http://meathaus.com/2007/02/06/hairstyle-names-from-1970s-ebony-ad/

70s Pictures

Salsa/Latino

QBOddBird February 11 2007 10:06 AM EST

So far I like Jad, Juzza, and Glory's Salsa pictures...but none of the 70's stuff is quite what I'm looking for yet. Keep it up guys ^.^

And don't forget

"Prizes may be increased if the quality is high enough"

So find good pictures for me! =)

Relic February 11 2007 10:15 AM EST

Any particular aspect of the 70s?

QBOddBird February 11 2007 10:18 AM EST

Hm. I'm looking in the direction of scenery - background, backdrop, etc. - and people - clothing style, hairstyle, posture, activity, dancing, etc...

Not sure, just looking for something looking like the "70's scene", I suppose. =)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 12:04 PM EST

Woodstock '79

QBJohnnywas February 11 2007 1:16 PM EST

[Admin Edit]

It's a gallery of album covers - there are a couple in there that fit both your requirements. Whether they're any good or not is a complete other matter though! ;)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 1:47 PM EST

Johnny, there's some amazingly un-PG stuff in that link...

QBJohnnywas February 11 2007 1:51 PM EST

I didn't see anything there that struck me as un-PG. Innuendo for sure, but lots of Seventies album covers are close to the mark. I guess it's a matter of who's looking at. ;)

QBOddBird February 11 2007 2:12 PM EST

Nah, one of those particularly was *definitely* un-PG. If an admin could remove that link that'd be cool, I've seen it so its served its purpose anyways...

QBJohnnywas February 11 2007 3:17 PM EST

Apologies for that.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 4:13 PM EST

"Hm. I'm looking in the direction of scenery - background, backdrop, etc. - and people - clothing style, hairstyle, posture, activity, dancing, etc..."<br><br>

Background - tie-dye van
Backdrop - open field
Clothing - tie-dye t-shirts and headbands
Hair - really long, everywhere
Posture - zen meditation pose
Activity - doing illegal substances and making love
Dancing - the "Hippie Twirl"

The '70s isn't hard to describe. Love, peace, long hair, everywhere, body odor, tie-dyes, illegal stuff, Grateful Dead.

QBOddBird February 11 2007 4:14 PM EST

Great, then find me pictures of that. Except the making love and illegal substances bit, that probably wouldn't do so hot in forums. ~_^

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 4:25 PM EST

I did... I found you a picture of a woman who embodies everything about the hippie movement.

QBOddBird February 11 2007 4:27 PM EST

*shrugs* Not what I was looking for

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 6:00 PM EST

Then would you mind elaborating on what you're looking for?

Adminedyit [Superheros] February 11 2007 6:03 PM EST

Try reading his very first post...

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 7:17 PM EST

Edyit, I'm not one incapable of reading. I am aware of his first post. But that's not what I'd call "elaborating" on what he's looking for, exactly.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] February 11 2007 8:08 PM EST

He wants a background, good backgrounds usually don't involve pictures of people unless they are abstract art impressions.
For a 70's theme it would be much more appropriate to have a psychadelic tie-dye backdrop perhaps with some popular hippy phrases.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 8:46 PM EST

QBOddBird February 11 2007 8:54 PM EST

I understand. You want me to elaborate.

I'll give you a description, exactly what I want, down to the very finest detail, and then I'll let you go find me a similiar picture and send you the 100k. Heck, let's cut out the middle-man, I'll find the picture myself and just send you the cash and call you a winner.

It is a contest because I don't *know* what I'm looking for. "I will be using this to draw inspiration for our Spring show theme so that I can create an appropriate background....so make it good! =) " --- looking for inspiration.

Zog's got the right idea. People could even be OK, but in such a manner where they could be used *as* a background - like people dancing in the background - not just sitting there.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 11 2007 9:02 PM EST

Are you saying that out of all the pictures I posted, nothing remotely inspires you?

QBOddBird February 11 2007 9:05 PM EST

No, I was basically saying I can't just hand you a 'give me this' scheme - but rather that you are finding the inspiration FOR me, hence the point of the contest.

I'll look at the pictures when they load, my dialup takes a bit.

Juzza February 14 2007 1:12 AM EST

Hope that will help. The first one I like but u can take the berkeley away.

QBOddBird February 16 2007 7:17 PM EST

Juzza, I can't see your last group of pictures.

I'm leaning towards ending this contest sometime soon, as I'm beginning to get some ideas....but the contest is still open for a little while longer, and if I see some fantastic entries, it'll make deciding on the winners so much easier!

Pet0sh February 17 2007 10:50 AM EST

what about these?

Especially the second to the right.
