Question on GA (in General)

I was looking through wiki and read how GA can be reduced by AC. It says "GA damage is reduced by AC; GA damage type is the same as that for which GA is retaliating."
Does that mean only the plus on armor can reduce GA damage due to direct damage spells? And total AC can reduce GA damage due to physical attacks? Also, will the reduction be the same way AC reduces damage?

Some believe, and are trying to prove, that AC reduces the GA level at ~0.11% per point, and not the GA damage. Preliminary tests show that this might be possible.
