Hey all,
There have been lots of threads regarding attacker vs. defender, as in, when does it matter who attacks first? For the most part, the rounds are fought pseudo-simultaneously, so it doesn't matter much.
However, I have a pretty nifty thing going on with Vlad Tepes right now. I don't think it's a bug, and don't think it needs correcting. I just think it's neat. *smile*
My FF spews a lot of fire if he makes it to melee. And in doing so, as the attacker, it means my FF's splash damage clears the path for Vlad's tank to strike directly at my big mage. The Fireball backlash kills off everyone else (except Joe), AMF backlash kills the FF himself, and the opposing tank slices 3 or 4 times and takes out Joe before dying himself. It's fun stuff!
So, it appears that death-by-self is NOT simultaneous with all other actions. Those deaths actually are considered to go BEFORE the opposing team strikes. If Vlad attacked me, he would probably lose every time because he would spend round 4 hacking through my lead minion or familiar, and wouldn't get to Joe. My FF would then proceed to roast everyone (except Joe) as per usual, and would kill himself on AMF backlash (as per usual), but Joe would remain standing.
Other fun aspects to this:
-- The bigger Vlad trains his AMF, the better I will do right now, because my FF will kill himself in Round Three (just the way I like it).
-- If I could have some sort of "poison pill" to take on my junction minion, I could make sure my FF dies before round 4. I think it would be a hoot for a battle action to be: "Hubbell Man takes his own life to spare his team!" in the play-by-play.
-- If I could have some sort of "Force opponent to attack first", it would actually help me in this case, as it would make my self-damage occur AFTER my minions act as sacrificial lambs. Then again, I guess the backlash would hurt more then, too, because it wouldn't be as spread out. Maybe Joe would die anyway. *smile*
Anyway, I think the interaction with Vlad is just damn good fun, and wanted to share!
