ToA Question. (in General)
Just out of curiosity. Why can I not use a BoM with a ToA?
If it's because of the ST boost then why can I use a AoM?

BoM is a power shield, power shields cant be used with tattoos...
I know it's a power shield.

ToA+AoM=Mega auto win...
the AoM is better and the BoM was a power shield long before amulets were introduced...
MgS is a power shield too, lol. Cant use power shields and tattoos period, dont really know why though, =/

Lets swap your quote around =)
"Why can I not use a CoI with a ToE? If its because of the DD boost then why can I use AGs?"
To limit power. Its simply the way it is, and it works, and it creates balance. I think that pretty much sums things up..

CoI is more powerful than AG.
AoM > BoM.

and, there are only 2 DD boosting items, compared to 4 ST increasing items, and you can't compare DD with ST as well.

I'm all for game discussion and debates, but really what's the point of this. It is what it is.. Power shields are powerful, and a minion wearing a tattoo can't use them. Everything has a tradeoff.
which is why i suggested cloaks be allowed on Junction minions, =/ DD boosting cloak instead of STR/DX cloak in this case would be good, just me though i guess

IMO,
The BoM is not too powerful for a ToA tank.
IMO,
Jon made the power shield category to prevent the MgS and ToA from being used together. In his own words the power shield category was basically "those shields too powerful to use with a ToA". I guess and only guess that he did not want a category of just 1 shield so he put the BoM in that category to keep the MgS from getting lonely.

AoM is more powerful, greater than, better than the BoM. It can be used with a ToA.

BoM gives AC- how is AoM more powerful?
At ~9-10mil NW: BoM gives 30% str and 40ac, AoM gives 26% strength and 0 ac. Also BoM has the small favor on the upgrade curve.
ok i never brought up the MgS and and ToA I understand why thats the way it is. But the BoM I don't get. I know it's the way it is. And I'm not raising a big stink about it. More curious than anything.

Nerevas - AoM is more powerful because it doesn't have the one-handed limitation. That 30% at 10M NW becomes 10% with a 2hander on a BoM.
Honestly, the BoM isn't too powerful to be used with a tattoo, but like Dr. Popsicle said, I think it is just in there keeping the MgS company.
STR isn't affected by the 2-handed+shield penalty, that's DEX.

From Item Overview:
"Base AC 10 -1% DX -3% magic. 1% ST for each plus; 1/3 bonus with 2h weapon. PR weight: 0.15."
1/3 the bonus with a 2h weapon. Don't tell me that isn't just pathetic for a 'Power Shield'.
yeah it is zog
Bonus 1% to ST for each + (1/3 the bonus is used with a 2 handed weapon).
