Forging formula for Vorpal Blade unstable? (in General)

I have been using the Vorpal Blade forging formula for the damage modifiers for a while now but I see lots of varying NW gains from it...


Sometimes I get the right 100% increase (from the 2:1:5:2 ratio) but sometimes I get 110% or sometimes I only get 55%...

Anyone else have this problem?

I did some work on a VB x and saw somewhat consistent increases, never anything as low as 50%, but I've been shown to be an inattentive forger...

I remember when I was doing work on a VB ~5 months ago I changed the formulas a bit to use a bit less BA per cycle and get more stable NW increases. I think I wrote it down somewhere, but I have to go out now so I will have a look later.

If I find it I will send a CM over.

Theres different formulas to forge?

Yes, there are a range of formulas that will show NW gains when completed.
There is usually a 'sweet spot' that will show the most NW gain for the lowest amount of BA, that's usually what forgers try to use.

Anything from 90%-110% can just be attributed to the randomness in the forge. The 55% thing is probably just a mess up with your forging.

It was no mess up...

In forging up these HGs, I've seen anywhere between .055% and .072% increases. I think the randomness is too great...

OB changed the forge time in the wiki recently due to Trashcan's observation that the difference saved a like 2 BA for a low drop in NW increase difference. Someone should check out the difference and see if it was in fact worth it to change.
