Changemonth: Forging (in General)

Personally, i think that it has been... forever since a forging change.

To all those who have ever forged:

--Quenching--

In a real life situation, a blacksmith would probably never quench something repeatedly (for example a blacksmith would not quench a mithril shield 8 times ;) )

To cut down on useless BA spent quenching, why not make an option to quench for a set amount of time, such as is with heating.
Instead of quenching my shield 8 times, i could quench it for 3 periods of 10 minutes.

What'da think?

Apparently you missed the part where you are quenching for one minute each time?

Forging does need a boost, maybe the quenching thing would help, would save Ba ,shorten cycles and put more money in forgers pocket, which I think is needed.

I disagree.

Right now forging efficiency is fine, and complaining about it won't do us much good. Forging only seems to have poor efficiency because most people who are forging for money are using characters that are less than half of TRR's mpr. Just because we are forging it doesn't mean that we should get special subsidies from jon. If we really want to make money, then as forgers we need to unite into a union-type group, wherein we can raise the collective price for forging to 80% or so to get to profitability.

Keep in mind that I am currently a forger-for-hire while flaming me.

I have to admit, I was considering forging my AC until I realised
that it required 27 quenches as part of the cycle.
I guess I still get 50 BA worth of $NW per cycle but it's still daunting.

It might seem like a small tweak but I'm sure it would throw Jon's
forging formulae all out of whack. Some items would suddenly
become much more efficient to forge.

Right, but Mian, we can only raise the rates so high - the BS is already much faster, and if we reduce the price advantage we are offering further, then our business diminishes.

It actually hasn't been forever since a forging change, it's been given a tiny boost with Econ clans...a 5% boost...but there's just been nothing to really help out forgers.

Keep in mind if we are forging at less than half the highest MPR it is because we are getting no experience and thus cannot keep up...and buying another large character every few months to continue forging is even MORE inefficient.
